Direct2Drive and modding?

Post » Wed Aug 25, 2010 4:18 am

I want to download the FO3:GOTY from D2D, but I don't know if I'll be able to mod if I do. I really love modding, and the way I figure it TES:V (sorry, I'm a TES fan :P) won't be coming out for a while so I'll have FO3, and I'll be able to mod in FO3 without constantly thinking "There's a better engine than this." like I do while modding in TES:V. FO:NV seems like it's just adding a few features, which I won't freak out about. So I'm not worried about that being just around the corner.

So if I download FO3:GOTY from D2D, can I still mod and get mods?

Thank you for your time. :)

I'm not sure about Fallout, but the D2D version of Oblivion couldn't run OBSE. So you might want to rethink getting it from there. FOSE is needed by a number of good mods.

If you can get to the data files and have access to the BSAs, then you can mod. You just wont be able to use FOSE ans the D2D Fallout.exe is encrypted, and breaking it would be illegal.
