DIRECTX11 = Worst Frame Rate?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 12:39 am

I was wondering when the patch does come out and support Direct x 11, will the frame rate for lower-end computers be worst? I am currently running a GTX 470 with 8 gb rams with i7 and am hitting only 40 FPS. Will my fps be lowered once direct x 11 is out while the graphics improve?

Is everyone that is super stoked about Direct x 11 running hardcoe gaming rigs like 3-SLI GTX 570's-590's or what?

I'm nervous!
What you mean highest at 40 fps?

I hope your not running that 470 at stock because that core clock is only 607 at standard which is too low.

I overclocked mine to 700 with ease using afterburner and created a custom fan profile. I know that I could get more out of it but for crysis 2, I'm hitting 89c and don't want it any hotter.

My frames are averaging 48 fps. Peaking at 60 fps with v-sync and the minimum touches 35 fps rarely.

Your cpu is awesome too. I have a 1055t @ 3.6.

Seriously, overclock that svcker.

Edit: My resolution is 1920x1080.

Op your post is completely unconclusive unless you write what resolution your using, because unless your at 1920x1200 or more, you should NOT be seeing 40fps, and how did you measure your fps anyways?

Anything below 60fps is completely unplayable unless your a console retard.

My i7@3.2GHz 6GB DDR3, 460GTX 1GB running extreme at 1680x1050 at around 60fps.
I did however disable motion blur using autoexec.cfg

IDK, I'm playing C2 on an Eon 15 laptop with a gtx460 card and a q840 cpu. The visuals are smooth and I've only seen a few fu'd artifacts while playing. maybe the dx11 will clean some of these up?

im getting 40 FPS with a single gtx460 so don't know what the deal is with 470? I'm happy with 30fps+ all games playable at this why want 60FPS, human eye can not tell the difference just cause your computer says 60fps you think you can.

I completely disagree with that statement! The human eye, and your brain can see a huge difference in game play between 30fps & 60fps! Why do you think that so many people try to achieve that 60fps number?? Yes, 30fps is playable, but there is still quite a bit of lag, and the entire game play is slowed down. When playing at a solid 60fps, everything runs at the speed the developers intended it to run. Now, I admit, anything after 60fps won't make much of a difference at all, but again, 30-40fps is very much noticeable!! The only way I can think of putting it is this: it's like hitting the "Fast Forward" button on a movie, (your game) but having it play perfect when you do so.

I suggest you find a friend who has a decent pc, and check out what Crysis (or any other pc game)looks like at 60fps and then let me know what you think, you will be amazed!

Game on!

Hey, is your cpu overclocked? That will help if its not. I have a i7 930 oc to 4.0 Ghz and when playing Crysis 2, my cpu runs at about 60%!! That tells me that the game utilizes the CPU in pc's, as well as your video card which is great! Remember Cryostasis? That game would lag horribly no matter what kind of pc you had, but it would only use about 2% of my cpu which is a total waste of resources if you ask me.

At least Crytek took some code and gave the cpu some work so the gpu's dident have to take 100% of the load...I have Crysis installed on 3 computers, and they all have pretty high cpu ususage with this game, so I would suggest you overclock your cpu, and see what your frame rates do. Couldent hurt to try? Unless you dont know how to OC and fry your cpu! LOL! Good Luck!

For what its worth, I cannot wait for the DX 11 patch, just to see these GTX 580's do their thing. At 1920x1080 I was running 67+ FPS at EXTREME, and closer to 35FPS at 5980x1080 under EXTREME. Normally I have to agree that anything below 35FPS is unplayable, but I found that XFire was showing me 25 FPS at points when at 5980x1080 and it was running as smooth as 50FPS or better, so either Xfire isn't showing accurate FPS results, or Frank is just doing a great job at keeping up. IDK, but I found even at 25FPS things moved fast as hell on 3 screens with no lag or flickering. I never went past 49c on either GPU or CPU. My GPU's are at stock (775Mhz Core Clock GPU). My CPU is overclocked to 4.6Ghz as well (Core i7 990X Extreme) and just chugs along. SO I will be very interested in the DX 11 patch to see how that affects performance or game play.

there will be much difference between the hight and the xtreme with your DX11, it will be only window dressing as crysis1 + dx10 on lower fps

Who knows?. If you want to see how DirectX 11 performs on your pc, you could try the first person shooter game METRO 2033 in DX 11.

It sounds funny when ppl say that they couldn`t play a game with 30fps. I have played many games from beginning till end with about 25fps during the years when I had a mediocore computer. :D

I've found that OCing my cpu to 4.5 made ZERO difference in frame rate from 2.6ghz on my 920

haha thing is.. i don't know how to OC -_- so yeah everything is running stock at the moment. I just overclocked my CPU with my MOBO program it came with when I purchased it. I'm hitting max 70 C and was wondering if that's bad. If anyone was wondering, I just built my computer and am not familiar with all the technicalities :/ I just came back to PC gaming from Console gaming since Counter-Strike died haha.

What? Anything under 60 FPS is unplayabe? What are you guys talking about? Yes 60 FPS is optimal for gameplay but you don't notice stutter until it falls below 25 FPS.

30 FPS is just fine for gameplay. 45 is probably your goal for a seamless experience but you rarely notice lag at 30 FPS.

Give me a source that states that DX11 was planned for Crysis 2?

When they patched DX11 into Two Worlds II the main benefit was that I gained like 20 fps, so I'd say performance boost.
