DIRECTX11 = Worst Frame Rate?

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 8:48 pm

I was wondering when the patch does come out and support Direct x 11, will the frame rate for lower-end computers be worst? I am currently running a GTX 470 with 8 gb rams with i7 and am hitting only 40 FPS. Will my fps be lowered once direct x 11 is out while the graphics improve?

Is everyone that is super stoked about Direct x 11 running hardcoe gaming rigs like 3-SLI GTX 570's-590's or what?

I'm nervous!

hmmm. i'm playing crysis 2 on a notebook msi gx640 with extreme quality ( downloaded crysis properties program) with no lags. 30 fps is good for playing so don't be afraid of dx11

it isnt that it's bad, it runs smoothly but I am worried once Direct x 11 comes out, graphics will be so intense that it will lower FPS during my multiplayer sessions. KDR FTW!

DX11 gives a performance boost but it also costs alot of performance if the DX11 graphical advances are used heavily. Mainly you get a performance boost.

DX11 is optional, i't's not something forced onto you. If you want, go back to DX9.

Theoretically, should be better. But since the game wasn't coded from the ground up using DX11 and instead it's just beeing slapped together, I'd say worse.

dx11 is not so resource-dependent feature. relax. particles and sun&water will be better/that's all

I just hope it doesn't lower the frame rate too much -_- crysis already poo's on almost everything. I'm thinking about going SLI GTX470's for this game. Think it'll be worth it?

By now my two nvidia gtx580 are infraused. It is easy to note cause with crysis warhead these two did more noise than with crysis 2...

So... I don't have worries about this.

Of course it will be dependable of the computer of each one...

if that was only the one thing what you'll be worrying about)
the big thing is MP... so many bugs and lags( i've bought licensed game just because of a key( what a shame it was to see a non-playable MP at the day of the release

you dumb? if you do end up losing performance with DX11, you can choose not to use it, and thus will not affect you.

I've already played with DX11 in other games (as example Lost Planet 2). If you have a DX11 compatible graphic card (I've got the GeForce 480 GTX) it will increase your performance extremely. Everything also looks awesome with it. It's real different to DX9.

30fps is fine for me as well. I rarely find myself watching an avi file and thinking that the frame rate is too slow lols.

DX11 will give you lower FPS than DX9, but most likely higher than the equivalent DX10, so imagine a framerate a little bit higher than what you'd get from Warhead at DX10 or such.

How do you people play at 30fps?
I cant stand anything lower than 45fps.
Thats why i play on Medium("Very high"), so i get a constant 60fps

In the order of performance when it comes to DX.
DX9/DX11/DX10

It really does depend on how overboard they get with DX11 if you get worst or better performance. I am going to say worst. I am sure they want DX11 to push the higher end cards to sale some hardware.

Videos work differently to games so watching them at a lower frame rate (24 FPS) doesn't feel like it would when playing a game at 24 FPS.

DX11 won't give you smoother performance who on earth believes in that!? More demanding computation and effects do not equal better performance. Show me one game where DX11 performs better than DX9? It is all about the game engine. Cryengine3 is really stunning and not too taxing on solid systems and it looks awsome.

You're getting awful performance for that card. I got CFX 4870 mobilities, and I'm pulling around 50-60fps on extreme 1200p. Your card is a tad stronger than mine. However, I still can't play the damn game due to the LSD induced flicker fest.

What your talking about is DirectX 10 mate, DirectX 1 adds Tesselasion in the mix.

dx11 in basic idea support dx 10 video cards like hybrid support matter as fact it should boost fps but we will get strong push back i think at least sow only if will use windows 7 and windows vista Shared memory to cover all loops and holes to keep game getting boost any way i will hope for best .

im getting 40 FPS with a single gtx460 so don't know what the deal is with 470? I'm happy with 30fps+ all games playable at this why want 60FPS, human eye can not tell the difference just cause your computer says 60fps you think you can. I agree that cryengine 3 is a good engine looks good and not as demanding which is what everybody wants. They kinda managed this with Warhead which was less demanding then Crysis so they are learning from mistakes made. This game has been slated but "IMO" (lol) in think crysis 1 is better for physix but this game is still fun to play. Cryengine 3 can support dx11 just needs written in but because EA would have been moaning about a release date for "MONEY" it got rushed out at dx9 for the consoles. Be patiant they will do it (not sure when) but one day it will come, and when it does we will all be back here winging that it looks the same lol.

DA2 had a day-one patch for DX11 support, but their support for it is terribad. Like really terribad.
Lexicon: Terribad is worse than terrible.

The update for DX11 may include a high-resolution texture pack, but they better give us a real options menu. Specifically an advanced options menu, none of this 1-3 settings crap. If I wanted to squeeze extra performance out of my game, all I'd have to do really is reduce shadow quality, that and adjust anti-aliasing.

The reason Crysis Warhead was so demanding in the first place was because of its stupidly high draw distances. You'd be rendering almost 1,000,000 polygons at once if looking across the bay resort. WHAT'S THE POINT IN THAT??? Anyways... Crysis 2's character models (especially the Nanosuit) look better than Crysis 1's. Can't really say much for the plants... but Crysis was showing its age when I had done a playthrough the week before 2 was available. The overall performance of the game had drastically improved because it wasn't trying to show us 1,000,000 polygons at once. Though these high-res textures better work if implemented.

This post will be swallowed by the rushing tides of redundant and pointless threads.

Well tbh it isn't, unless you are playing on a console.
