Disabling CS beep sound

Post » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:58 am

Whenever I click on an object in the object or render window, it plays the windows "default beep" sound. I've tried to disable this sound in window's options, and replacing it with a silent 'sound'. Both of those just make the CS use my computer's internal speaker beep (even when I turn my sound off). I'm on Vista and using CS 1.2.

Is there any way to disable this annoying and pointless beeping?

Not that I know of but would be nice if there is to find out !! (though I don't get it in the render window - just the object or cell windows etc.)

I don't know if this will help, since you say you've turned "sound off", but have you tried actually muting the CS? I got this all the time until I went to TaskBar-->Right-click Speaker symbol-->Open Volume Mixer, and used that to mute the CS (which has to be done whilst it's open).

I don't know if it's the exact same issue, but it worked for me at least :)

Aha! That worked, didn't know I could mute applications individually. Thanks :)

HAHA!!! Thank you CDM! And thank you Lady Nerevar for asking the question! :celebration:

This annoyance has plagued me for the longest time to the point where I'd plug a dummy cable into the headphone jack just to shut it up (because on mine, that beep actually plays through the headphones. HOW DOES BETHESDA MAKE GAMES WITH THIS BUGGED CRAP ALL THE TIME??? Every CS has these stupid problems, I swear! :brokencomputer:
(my last problem like this was the CS crashing every time I tried to edit dialogue b/c my onboard mic was disabled and I didn't have a mic plugged in)

The weird thing is, now that I've muted it, it no longer shows up in the Application Volume thing at all, even if I reload CS. The mysteries of TESCS never end...

EDIT - In fact it disabled the application sound for Oblivion, itself!! It took me like 10-15 mins to figure out how to re-enable sound for Oblivion, the dialogue wouldn't come up on the volume control; it only came up while Oblivion was running, and had to ALT-TAB out of Oblivion to re-enable the sound... [sarcasm]And anyone who has the misfortune of running Windows, knows just how wonderfully STABLE Oblivion is when you ALT-TABed out of it! [/sarcasm]
