Disapointing return to Oblivion

Post » Wed Nov 27, 2013 1:06 am

I decided to give Oblivion a go again and bought the Steam version with all the DLCs.

It turns out the DLCs are bugged and I cannot use the Mystic Emporium without getting arrested etc; and the woman inside who is part of one of the DLCs keeps shouting at me to get out if I do break in. So how am I to even play the DLC itself – nevermind the main game.

I need the ME for spells.

The unofficial patch doesn’t fix this bug.

I don’t know. I cant see myself persisting if things are this broken.

How can they do that?

DLC that screws up the game?

Feel pissed for having bought it and put in a pile of time setting it up etc.

all for nothing it seems.

Maybe someone can help. Is there a setup that isnt broken?

I mean leaving out any bugged DLCs etc?

I thought the unofficial patch did fix this bug?

If not, then the easiest way to avoid is just after leaving the tutorial. Go straight to the Mystic Emporium, up the stairs, and unlock the very easy lock on the door to the private quarters.

Then the door doesn't get locked all day. If you're too late to do that(any point after the first day of the game), then find the http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Tower_Stone#Tower_Stone, and use it's power to open the door (it's not a crime if you pick locks by magic) then unlock the door to the private quarters.

That's it. Just unlock it, and go away. Now the ME will have normal business hours. It introduces a different glitch however, in that all the items on display will be available for you to take for free, no stealing. So be strong!

If you are sneaky, you can do it and not get a fee.

Otherwise, pay 40 gold to the guard when you leave, for having to enter the private quarters.

I appreciate the help guys.

This has screwed me over. I started messing with the instal - deactivating things etc;

so if I am to try again I will have to uninstal and completely clean it out and reinstal from scratch.

Not sure if I have the heart.

But thanks.

Do you only use the Unofficial OB patch or the Unofficial patch for DLCs too because they are two separate patches? This bug isn't fixed by UOP but it is fixed by UOMP, which solves many DLC-related problems.

Shouldn't really be a problem, just reload an earlier save before you started messing around. That is, if you have more than one save, relying on just one is never a good idea.
