I will try not to give anything away. But during a particular quest, you do something a bit harrowing, and in my game ED-E disappears, but the Perk stays, and I can't add other simular characters, and people act like I still have the robot. So maybe it is now invisible, but I seem to never be able to access it to store things, and it does not help in any fights. I did check the original home of the ED-E with no luck.

I would hate to replay so much of the game. Kind of an odd bug it seems. Call it Invisible Eddie.

This happened to me too. I just went to a bed and slept for 24 hours, I did this about 4 or 5 times until it said ED-E has returned to Primm.
Hope that helps.

Go to vault 22 and take the elevator to the last (5th?) floor.
Edit: You also have to talk to him and tell him to follow you.

why would vault 22 help?

One thing that was said, is that when you exit the elevator it checks for followers and spawns them next to you when they are lost but, nobody really knows.

The trick with vault 22 doesnt work anymore, at least it didnt work for me.
I think ED-E is just bugged.
When I lost him and the vaul trick didnt work, I used the cmd prompt to get him back.
Later on, he truly died and I still had his perk.
Now im am wondering if he disappeared earlier, or chased down a cazador that I had clipped with my sniper rfile and died.

Oh, well I don't have the game update.

Just wanted to mention...

I have the new patch, and ED-E is still lost. The new companion marker puts him in Vault 22 (which is where I thought he disappeared).

The Vault 22 Elevator glitch doesn't get him back. I've played a couple in-game weeks since he disappeared, and he's still somewhere in Vault 22.

I spent several hours yesterday scouring every corner of Vault 22, and no ED-E.

To clarify that's not a glitch, but WAI. The elevator forces the companions to move up with you. The fact that it isn't working is telling me that it's bugged.

I cant find him. Vault 22 doesnt work. Cannot see him on map like I can Cass.

Annoying because I cannot do the dog brain quest! *mutter mutter mutter!

Happened to me too and you won't be able to partner with Rex if you get to his quest with Ed-E missing but not "dismissed".
