I am disappoint.

In FO3,I can remember truly fearing the sight of a death claw or Ghoul Reaver. Anyone else remember the "OH [censored]! moments when you would see a reaver and frantically shoot it till it died. Now I see one and im like "Oh,one of these guys,(Shoots Anti-Material rifle)well,he wasn't so tough was he?" I can remember Reavers being bullet sponges, soaking up damage and dishing it out back to you in the form of radioactive gore(witch they no longer throw). They were TOUGH! I don't get scared or pumped anymore when I see one(I didn't even see one until LEVEL 35!). When I finnaly did find one it was at the Old Nuclear Test Site, and I beleive there was 5 or 6 of them. I thought it would be a challenge, but no, all I had to do was pick them off with the .50 at range. I didn't even lose a point of heath, and I think those reavers didn't even know that hit them. And its not just reavers,it seems as though enimies a whole have been toned down, which brings me back to my topic,I am disappoint. :cryvaultboy:

Deathclaws are alot harder to kill in FO New Vegas and I am glad Reavers are no longer bullet sponges.

I hated Reavers in Fallout 3. I agree they are maybe a little bit too weak in New Vegas, I'm not worried when I see one now, but if they get close they can still do a fair amount of damage. OP, you could always shelve the AMR and go for something a little less Godlike. Nothing is scary when you have an AMR. I like taking on Reavers unarmed when I'm in higher levels. Haven't tried it with a deathclaw yet though. Those things are scary as hell, and way better than they were in FO3

Bullet sponges are a bad thing, imo. Introduced with ridiculous HP levels, i fail to see how something that is still technically just a sick human, take 100 shots to the face with a shotgun. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Yep. I found your problem. New Vegas doesn't have Fallout 3's level scaling. You found one of the rare disadvantages of not having level scaled enemies, which is that you'll eventually outlevel them. If you had run into the deathclaws at level 1 they'd have kicked your [censored]. Deathclaws (and other creatures) are in areas where they discourage you from exploring at early levels. It's just a different game. I prefer the New Vegas style but to each his own.

Try melee or unarmed, you'll still deal tons of damage.
You'll just take as much as well as dealt, if not more so.

Try not sneaking this is fun, when you have a pack of Gecko hunters at level 2 eating you alive.
Or three plus daddy deathclaws rushing you from three directions, you may not die at 35, but it'll be exciting and close.

In FO3 the only really tough creatures were overmuch's and Reavglitchers ( if they glitched. ) then only at lower levels and not faced at range.

Have you tried without sniping? This is no fear involved when you're sniping. Try a fist ight with a deathclaw and come back tell me how that goes.

Why?

You can wack them on level 4 with a combat shotgun. And if you have a dart gun, you can toy with an entire herd of them.

No comparison to the death claws in NV.

Reavers weren't dangerous they were just hard to kill just like most things in F:NV with DT. Btw all the bullet sponges in FO3 were nothing but anoyances.

P.S: Have you even encountered a deathclaw in new Vegas?

This.

*OP walks into Quarry Junction*
*Shoots at Deathclaw with AMR*
*Deathclaws kill him*

you know whats worse than bullet sponges? not having any tough enemies besides deathclaws to fight, the NPC mostly all have melee weapons, not many of them have any of the weapons the player uses like marksman rifles, multiplas rifles, sniper rifles etc, only the fiends use energy weapons, ncr for the most part are armed with service rifles, there's NO enemey patrols on the map, you can travel all around the map and not find hardly any humans to fight except for ones at outposts, there's not a lot to explore, the caves are all small, there's no big buildings to fight in like the capitol building, or lob enterprises, or the national archives, or the roosovelt academy or red racer factor or chryslus building, i could go on and on here, obviously obsidians strong points are story, quests and dialogue, but exploring, dungeons, enemies to fight, i would have to say bethesda pretty much blows obsidian out of the water in those areas.

So just with the dart gun? How about...............

With Harkenss overpowered Plasma rifle?

With the overpowered VATS system and the overpowered Grim Reaper Sprint perk?

With a bag full of nuka grenades?

With bottle cap mines?

With a Gass rifle that will lift the Deathclaw off the ground and put it on it's back allowing you to pepper it with assault rifle gunfire?

With the special Chinese Assault rifle that will cut it in hallf using only 3 clicks of Vats or a few seconds in free aim?

The Fat man with it's shockingly plentiful mini nuke ammunition?

The list goes on.

Hey, it's not impossible... Tried it once. I won with 2 bars of health and crippled arms, legs, and a head.

You're not disappoint, you name clearly is Elite112

Too be honest I was a lot more scared of Deathclaws in NV. I tried to take on the Quarry at level 10 and got my ass handed to me.
I avoided that place for a very long time after that.
In Fallout 3 I could down them with a hunting rifles, or an assault rifle. The gauss rifle (the AMR of Fallout 3) killed them in two shots max

Humanoid enemies could have been better equipped, however. Perhaps there is something to be said for certain enemies getting leveled gear.

i miss albinos, reavers, and overlords.

only thing that kept me interested in playing a level 30.

now that im level 30 in new vegas nothing is hard anymore.

*sigh* its not meant to be, to put a 12.7 bullet between an albinos many, many eyes.

Level scaling=/=Good
New Vegas did it right. Once you become 1337, anything with sentience and self-preservation should avoid you.

I am not disappoint. I'm glad that I actually feel like a badass at level 30/35, though even then, I've been challenged by places like Deadwind Cavern and the Sierra Madre.

That's weird, i cleaned Dead Wind Cavern without getting hit once. With my Tank that doesn't sneak or snipe. Well maybe a little, she's the only one strong enough to handle the AMR :D

Deathclaws in Fallout 3 were scarier because at high leves they were everywhere, and usually you'll notice it's there only after it hits you. And with the numerous mods i use they were no laughing matter either. In New Vegas, same enemies in same places everytime :snoring:

There's the crux and how you'll fix your problem with NV.

Unfortunately it seem Mart won't make his Mutant Mod for NV. Understandable as NV isn't an exploration focused sandbox game like Oblivion or Fallout 3. I've looked at that IWS mod, but the comments on the thread have made me wait for it to "mature" some more.

So many guns and nothing to shoot them with.
