disappointed so far

Post » Tue Feb 24, 2009 3:30 pm

I am new to fallout and so far i am disappointed with the game.
I will play a few more hours but so far i don't understand why people like this game.
I am bored with exploring and also speaking with NPC's, i don't see any life in the game.

Am i missing something?

I wish you gave us details, where are you? How far are you in the main quest? Who is your daddy, and what does he do? Do you play RPG's or FPS's?

Most of the game is talking I'm afraid, it added it for gamers such as myself that enjoy the details and story options.

If you go off road you'll stat to see more action, but you need to be able to know how to deal with them.
If you give us a clue as to your level and what stats and equipment you have..
We may be able to point you to a fight that you'll enjoy.

I have been playing RPG's for many years.

I played about 4 hours so far, finished the training and visited 2 towns.
But i am bored, i thought there would be more life in the game.

You do know this is after a nuclear apocolypse and most everyone died, and all survivors, even after 200 years, like to stay in and around settlements and out of the wastes.

Did you remember to toggle 'fun' in your game settings?

Go south from Primm and either head west or east, or south west, south east.
Plenty of combat around those areas, but some may be to tough.

Which RPG's were your favorites?

In a fallout game 4 hours and a small amount of exploring is definently not enough to decide if you like it. Find some cool weapons and do some side quests. If not maybe try fallout 3 if you really wanna try having fun with the series, cause most people seem to enjoy that one more

I think we've all gone over this before. Lets not make this a bag-on-stranger-fest and try to look into his interests. If he doesn't feel the Fallout vibe it's not his fault.

By life if you mean people clearly New Vegas has a lot of people considering the events and time it takes place in. If your disappointed by the lack of life in places like Vegas I can't blame you.

It's mostly an engine thing if your put off by old graphics and lack of pristine quality and people.

If you bought New Vegas I'd really advise you to keep playing though. Accept it for what it is and enjoy. If you need help setting up a build, look, and backstory for a character to help you with that go ahead and ask.

Prize the strengths of the game while noting but not letting any cons/bad parts get to you. That's how I was able to have fun and enjoy Fallout 3 afterall as a Fallout fan from the Black Isle Era(Interplay without Brian Fargo doesn't interest me.)

You've pretty much nailed exploration but the rest of the game is good.

If you are bored playing this game, there is a intersection. Near it is a hut and a plane near by. Go north from that intersection and kill some npc's that try to kill you. Then keep on going north and don't talk to any npc's until you hit junction call Quarry Junction. You won't get bored there.

The game really gets good further in to it. Keep having a look, do quests and generally get to know the game. Fallout 3 is the best game to really get to know what its about. Keep going. you wont be dissapointed.

Well Fallout is the best way to know what it is about.

But from what the OP is saying it sounds like New Vegas isn't his sort of game. I'd suggest keep going at it for atleast a few more hours, if you can't find anything to keep your interest i'd just leave it.

As a side note: Near the end of the game a pop-up will appear informing that it will end soon and you should save before you continue. I don't want you to come back whining about how you didn't save before hand.

Fallout tends to be a bit political, ethical, and social, because you're having to deal with different factions that have different issues. How you help them and who you help (or even if you choose to help them at all) varies.

New Vegas is a slow starter. You might be better off moving on with the main quest, once you get round near Vegas itself things start to liven up.

To be honest Fallout 3 was much of a slower start than New Vegas. Whereas 3 started off acquainting the player with the vault and Fallout mechanics and feel because keep in mind Bethesda did have to reboot the franchise -and- make it mainstream.

New Vegas wasn't bound to that issue plus Obsidian acknowledged the slow start of the previous title by mixing it up and starting the game with a bang.

Of coarse with the north path blocked to most players have to stick to the south which kind of works in a linear flow. Issue most people take is while there's more in a smaller area many people enjoyed the wide open space of 3.

I don't think that they had to do it... I think that they just chose to do it.

*A choice that [as a series fan], I am not very fond of.
