"Disappointed" I just don't get it?

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 9:16 am

I hate to use this term but maybe people are just spoiled these days
an need to learn to appreciate that they have been given the opportunity to play such a game as Skyrim

The time it takes to make such a game involves a lot of hard work

Add to the fact if you did not notice these games are in the minority in the current video game market

So Todd Howard & everyone at Bethesda thank you for keeping these games alive & on the map!

I was actually completely unimpressed with the game for the first 2 hours....by hour 5 i loved it, but then i hadn't played a TES game since i completed/[censored]d OB like 4-5 years ago, so i guess was just me getting back into it properly. Now i can't tear myself away once i start playing.

I agree 100%

This is easily the best game to come out in the past 5 years. You can do anything and its still not good enough.
I think the graphics are great for a game this huge, and the game never ends, and people still complain?

I have barely touch the main quest and i am already 20 hours into this game. I could just do the side quests for 100 hours and never do the main story and still be happy with this game.

Also the reason we are mostly seeing negative posts, is because most of us are PLAYING the game and loving it. I just come here when I am taking a break and watching TV to relax and see if I can help anyone.

I think 90% of people that play the game love it and cant put it down.

I give credit where credit is due and I found this to be a masterpiece of a game, great job Bethesda!

A Bethesda is hardly in the minority. As far as core gamers go it's was probably the most anticipated game of the year and it's selling extremely well.

As for the people who don't like it.I guess they are entitled to their opinion even though some of those people don't really provide any logical reasons for not liking it.

I couldn't agree more. My only complaints saved games corrupted, compass constantly visual & the terrible journal system besides that one huge issue & two minor complaints this is hands down the best open world RPG I have ever played. I played 33 hours only to have my save corrupted from a crash & not up to 58 so 25 with my new char & I constantly back up my saves. It is a bit of a hassle BUT this game is just so incredible it is well worth it. All in all thanks from me as well! Everyone at bethesda, the hard work really shines. This game is beautiful from top to bottom!!!

But the scaling of leveling for enemies is a horrible concept that degrades the whole game!

For $60 on PC, this game needs to be near perfection and that it is not. I'll appreciate what's "given" when it's worth my $60, and that would include things like spell crafting, a better PC user interface, and first-person perspective on horses.

Some things about kinda annoy me but it's still bloody amazing.
I get annoyed how when thugs attack you in Whiterun the guards don't help you at all - in fact they run away like idiots. But if I punch a chicken the whole town goes into a blood bath and tries to murder me.

If someone puts in hours of hard work to put together a steaming pile of [censored] for me, I'll still be underwhelmed. I'm not saying that I expect Skyrim to be a pile of [censored] (I haven't played it yet, but I fully expect it to become my favourite game), just that it's not some sort of moral abomination not to think that it's God's gift to man.

My experience is similar to yours. At the onset, I was mostly hung up on the things which were good in Oblivion that didn't make it over into Skyrim. Less options in Character Gen, despite better textured builds, and what have you. But, while there are definitely areas where they should have stayed closer to some of the Morrowind and Oblivion formulae, the world is beautiful and the variation in dungeons and the wealth of attention to detail in terms of settings and related story is excellent. Perfect? No, of course not. Are things lacking here and there? Sure. But is it an addictive, engaging, often exhilirating experience all the same?Absolutely! And now, back to the game. lol

I'm afraid you ahve to look a this from the human condition point of view. You see so many 'oh my god i'm so disappointed threads' because the other 3.39 million of us are so busy killing bandits we can't tear our eyes away from the game. The negative opinion echoes the loudest. Always has and always will. laugh at them, and remind yourself that the minority will always vocalize the most.

Got two good questions

If you're not disappointed and are completely satisfied with the game you Bought, what makes you think there is something wrong with people who are NOT you, so much as to say they are spoiled, because they do not like the game as you do?

and In that, why do you care? a simple thank you beth would have sufficed.

There will always be people that dislike any game but I absolutely LOVE Skyrim. Have it for the PS3, and it's coming in the mail for PC tomorrow. Waiting on the Creation Kit to start seeing some mods being churned out.

Disappointed because the execution of many things was lazy, unprofessional, and not a quality product. If i sell you a chair with a wobbly leg on it, you should complain to me about it, not just 'appreciate that you have been given the opportunity to sit'. This is complacency at its lowest.

Glitches. Although it's not surprising, I expect that a lot of people didn't really expect them in such great quantities. I do agree, however, this is one of the best games I've ever played.

Their whole argument revolves around:

1) ignorance, really they are clueless to game mechanics and cry as a result
2) They want the perfect game with the best of every genre incorporated in to a single package.
3) They weren't hugged enough as children.

Nope. Just want spell crafting, a decent PC user interface and first-person on horses. All of these were incorporated in Oblivion. Nice troll attempt, though.
