I'm disappointed this week.

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:57 am

The way this week was being hyped up, I really thought we were going to get some juicy new info. The picture of the Orc and Khajiit were it. Maybe I'm supposed to be happy with that, I don't know.

Everything else was like getting a blast of the Game Informer article we all read back in January. Their may have been what some might consider new news to them, but I personally have known everything that has been discussed this week except for the pics of the Orc and Khajiit, and the small bit of info that you are crossing the border into Skyrim when you get nabbed in the beginning.

We were supposed to get new blogs on all 5 games that Bethesda releasing. Where is the blog for Skyrim?

I know the week is not over yet, but it will be after tomorrow. I really hope there is some more stuff coming out. Because I'm a saaaad panda.

I was pretty happy with what we got. The screens were really nice looking and the articles really got me excited. I'm not sure what more you could have asked for? I think there is still a 'reveal' due out on Friday, maybe that will be what you are looking for.

I seem to recall them saying there is something due out on Gametrailers or something similar this Friday. I don't recall specifics or I would have given. I'm sure someone will be along in a moment with a link.

There isn't. He's referring to the GameTrailers show tonight. They aren't revealing anything though. They are rehashing.

There used to be, but not anymore. GTTV removed the words "with exclusive reveals"

You shouldn't expect any "juicy" or "big" reveals unless there is a big event coming up, like E3. This event was more to show off and give a general idea to the media what Skyrim was about. This game is still in pre-alpha, and a lot of things are not set in stone yet. As a result, it would be silly for BGS to commit to things that may not even make it into the game, for example horses as mounts and transformations. We will get the juicy/new reveals at E3 in early June, so just hang in there.

I'd be happy with what we got. Enjoy these moments of delightful anticipation; soon, Skyrim will be here, and then we won't have anything to look forward to except playing the game, correct?

How did the articles get you excited? They were the same as the articles we got in January and February.

If you don't watch it on spike tv, they said they'll release the video on Friday.

Hopefully, they give out new info in this episode and not just the same stuff that the other articles already said.

I couldn't be happier! The only reason to restart a character is if you really don't like your race or you want to level up a different style quickly...but even then it may be easier/just as "difficult" to just train with your already strong character. If there are racial perks and items are no longer leveled I couldn't possibly want anything else out of Skyrim. :tes:

Maybe you didn't see the ones in January, but did you? If you did, then how did these articles get you excited? The reason they did not get me excited is because they told me the same things I heard in January, just worded differently over and over.

The reason I expected "juicy" new info was because I asked Pete Hines on twitter when we would be getting some "juicy" new info and he said it would be this week. So see I was set up with an expectation and then I was let down. If they would have shown all the races, that would have been "juicy" enough I suppose. I'm don't want them to release any big details anyway, I think those things should definitely be held until events such as "E3". A little info, that's all I'm askin' for. Also that Blog is a joke because it's a link to other links.

If I'm not mistaken, Pete Hines only suggested that we would get new screen shots. He never said that we would get anything necessarily "new" besides that. Anything else is just merely hopeful thinking on everyone's part due to high anticipation and hype of Skyrim.

Then you weren't looking hard enough. They talked about how the AI works in a couple and how it was a big improvement over Oblivion such as they now hunt for you in the dark when you kill their friends and what not. Then we heard about how your character actually picks flowers, meaning that it will actually pick ingredients for alchemy instead of just hearing the sound and it's in your inventory. We heard about how there is life in the waters this time as the fish were spawning upstream, jumping out of the water. We found out that draugrs use Thu'um in the game. We found out there is a chain lightning spell, a mind destruction spell, a ray of frost spell and there were more but I can't remember. There is even more but I think you get the picture.

Edit: Oh and one of the articles talked about the new stealth system as well, it sounds interesting.

They covered a lot of the same content, but they are not the same articles. Lots of little detail was given over things that weren't covered in the GI mag.

Indeed, we have gotten confirmation on a great many things we could only speculate on prior to this week.

They talked about how the AI works in a couple and how it was a big improvement over Oblivion such as they now hunt for you in the dark when you kill their friends and what not.

They mentioned an NPC going "I thought I heard something..." after a buddy they were just talking to got an arrow put through them, before running after the player.

Then we heard about how your character actually picks flowers, meaning that it will actually pick ingredients for alchemy instead of just hearing the sound and it's in your inventory.

I think you're reading a bit far into that comment. It would be nice if your character is animated to actually take stuff from the world, but I did not get the impression he meant it that literally in the article.

We heard about how there is life in the waters this time as the fish were spawning upstream, jumping out of the water.

Pretty sure we've heard about that before.

We found out that draugrs use Thu'um in the game.

We've been told before that there are others that use Thu'um.

We found out there is a chain lightning spell, a mind destruction spell, a ray of frost spell and there were more but I can't remember.

Except for the chain lightning spell, this isn't anything beyond what's already been mentioned or had in Oblivion (the skill screen pic mentions an Ice Spike spell and the "mind destruction" spell sounds an awful lot like Frenzy).

Ultimately, yes, there were a couple new minor details, some confirmation on that which we already knew/speculated, and the two or three new pics were very nice, but hardly the amount of new information I was made to expect.
