[req] Im disappointed in variety of weapon mods

Post » Fri Apr 02, 2010 1:28 pm

When i found out that the current weapon mods available to me (such as missle launcher guidance, laser rifle stuff, rifle stuff, etc) is all that will ever be available in the current world of FONV..... i was pretty disappointed.

What i was hoping to see were mods i could buy for my binoculars to give them night sight, or perhaps a magazine extender for the RCW... Let alone the fact that you are able to mod melee weapons but there is not a single option for any of them..

"Satchels" user-modification is the closest thing to anything like this for armor mod purposes...

Would it work just to click on the mods tab in the geck for each weapon and say, allow the laser rifle scope to be used in modding your recharger rifle?

edit @ Curate:

Guns .357 Magnum Revolver .357 Revolver Long Barrel · .357 Revolver HD Cylinder
.44 Magnum .44 Revolver Scope · .44 Revolver Heavy Frame
9mm Pistol 9mm Pistol Extended Mags · 9mm Pistol Scope
10mm Pistol 10mm Pistol Silencer · 10mm Pistol Extended Mags · 10mm Pistol Laser Sight
12.7mm pistol 12.7 Pistol Silencer
Assault carbine Assault Carbine Extended Magazines
Brush gun Brush Gun Forged Receiver
Cowboy repeater Cby. Rep. Custom Action · Cby. Rep. Long Tube · Cby. Rep. Maple Stock
Energy Weapons Laser RCW Laser RCW Recycler
Laser Rifle Laser Rifle Focus Optics · Laser Rifle Beam Splitter · Laser Rifle Scope
Plasma Rifle Plasma Rifle Mag Accelerator
Flamer Flamer Expanded Tanks
Gatling Laser Gat. Laser Focus Optics · Gat. Laser CF Frame
Plasma Caster Plasma Caster HS Electrode
Explosives Grenade Rifle Grenade Rifle Long Barrel
Fat Man Fat Man Little Boy Kit
Grenade Machinegun Grenade MG High-Speed Kit
Missile Launcher Miss. Launcher Guidance Sys.

Yes, I think it is a small list with little options. Maybe you are confused on what im saying. Its easy to assign values to current weapon mods in the geck, ie allowing Laser RCW weapon to utilize the Optics Dmg boosters from the Laser Rifle list, but Im hoping someone with talent can make a LEGIT mod with expanded mods for all weapons complete with cosmetic visual changed (again look at laser rifle for example).

You could even make purchasable mods for armor... Mod your MkII Helmet to have nightvision, an AP boost or Spread Reduction. I dont even know if the limit is 3 or if its just 3 is the most any item currently has in vanilla state.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Must be playing a different game, there's a lot more than mods for just a couple of weapons.

I liked Guns alot more in Fallout 3 with the WMK Mod. I don't know why I seem to have so much trouble bonding with my digital fire arms in NV :(

And there's a lot of weapons with one or no mods. I was using the unique plasma rifle for a while before I realized: A: You can't mod unique weapons and B: There's no scope for plasma rifles anyway. In fact there's only one mod for plasma rifles, and it increases the speed of projectiles. I'd say the game definitely needs lots more mods.

Did you notice how you can go to the "mod" screen for all weapons though? Some items just don't have mods yet.

Bethesda made sure it would be very easy for weapon mods to be added at a later time. I'm sure this wasn't just for the modding community, but for them as well.

Its Obsidian, not Bethesda. Fallout New Vegas was developed by Obsidian interactive using the Fallout 3 Engine developed by Bethesda; so all the changes in New Vegas are Obsidian's responsibility. I only say this because Obsidian made an incredible game and i believe they deserve the credit for it, i am not trying to be offensive or anything.

I think there is a healthy amount of weapon mods inside the game, sometimes i have more problem finding them all since not all sellers carry them. And the gunrunners have a respawnable shop list so its not 100% certain that they will carry the weapon mod you want; finding a Silencer for the sniper rifle has proven quite difficult. Having said this, i believe there is room for adding more weapon mods, but this would become increasingly difficult as the number of mods for each weapon increases because you will need individual models for each particular combination of weapon mods.
