Disappointments

Post » Sat Dec 24, 2016 11:11 pm

Mine was Slow Time. I rushed into taking sides in the civil war simply because I wanted to get the Slow Time shout, thinking it would be the solution to everything. It wasn't, of course. It was useful for a while, and I may have underestimated it, but I haven't used it since the early days

Custom spells. I understand why they did it, but at the same time I miss having a mage that I could convert into a temporary warrior with a couple custom spells.

The fact that Bethesda decided to tie the civil war quest line into Skyrim's main quest. And then they compounded the problem by tying the Dragonborn quest line into Skyrim's main quest. Whoever thought that was a good idea ought to be horsewhipped. I hope Bethesda never makes that mistake again.

Dialog that always repeats and the lack of actual schedules. It's great hearing the dialog the first time, but after the trillion time? It makes all the NPCs just feel like robots.

Shout cool down period and Dawngaurd ugly vamps. Archery kill cams and vampiric drain's low power - high magic consumption.

Not a surprise. Few games NOW do better, and even fewer did back then.

A small minus point to me and one of the least of Skyrim's problems....

As a Brit, I find some of the English accents used by the Elves, distinctly unelven, but then the Skyrim Elves are not exactly Tolkienesque...

It would be good to one day have a system where there was standard stuff you could create using recipes, i.e. potions, enchantments, spells, smithed products, but also the facility to arrive at a whole range of non-standard stuff via trial-and-error or rare discoveries (with some element of random thrown in for each player to minimise 'cheats')

That was what made Slow Time such a costly choice. As I only started playing with the legendary version, I don't have a clue what the main Skyrim quest is...

Tying the quest-lines together... quest locking word walls...

hmm the last is.. The way the faction quest-lines are rushed... I would have liked to have seen them all kinda like TG is.. you have to do A to get to B to proceed to C.. and vanilla the way you have to do something you may not want to do to proceed with Companions.

As far as I know there's no way to distinguish our main quest quests from other quests in our journal. If you're really lost you can compare the quest names on http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Main_Quest with the quest names in your journal to see where you are in the main quest.

Yes, that was another disappointment for me too. Personally I don't mind the "event" itself. But there should have been options to let us handle it in different ways.

I use a mod PC that allows one to proceed without having to...partake in the "event"...( also other changes to the quest-line) Some of my characters are happy and take what is offered, others... no.

Joining the TG thinking you could overthrow Maven

No separate opaque setting for the compass. It was the whole HUD or nothing

Actually there is a way.. Look at the top of the page you linked for the Skyrim Main Quest. That somewhat Celtic dragon graphic at the top is what appears in the game quest description when you cursor over one of the Main Quest "quests". Only the main quest has that same symbol. All official quests have them.. Daedric, College, DB, Thieves Guild, Radiant, etc.. quests ALL have their own symbol. There's even a unique symbol given to generic MISC objectives

There's a difference between a English and Elven accent? I always thought that all you folk across the pond had pointy ears

I think that's it's kinda disappointing that 2H can be so overpowering so early, with a few perks in 2H and the Steel perk im pretty much invincible except to very skilled range opponents and even then I just have to run up and whack them a couple of times, really you don't even need perk investment with generic enchanted gear.

It is kinda realistic when you think about a guy with a giant sword like Conan but the majority of the 2H tree is unnecessary until the mid 30 levels.

Ahh...you found the trick to 2h.. I usually get the bottom perks in a round Robin with the other skills I use...my 2h reaches 80 or so before I start up past the middle of the tree. Perk wise it's a very OP style, cause you don't need them and if you take them...awesomeness.

Yeah me too I only get 2 first tier perks then decapitation and around 40 or so I get the side sweep perk which in my opinion is the coolest.

1)Lack of challenge after a certain level.

2)You can easily break the game by casually using some of the crafting skills.

3)Locked out of equipment and shouts if you don't follow faction quest lines.

Let my mages use firebreath without forcing me to be a damn dogman warrior and let my warriors be able to collect Gauldur's amulet without participating on a ridiculous magic lesson for todlers!

4)Locked out of Daedric and Dragonbone equipment, forcing every kind of class to be a legendary smith first and foremost.

Good luck finding these stuff on your own.

All faction leaders die and they put you in charge after the completion of the quest line.

Not to be completely goofy or anything... but perhaps the reason for #1 is #4???

If your leveling up smithing to the point of getting Deadric and Dragonbone at mid-levels ( 30-50 ) and aren't playing on Master ( 2 crafts) or Legendary ( 3 crafts)... yeah everything would be too easy. Your own play style is making the game "to easy". ... you can't break the game with causal crafting... you break your game by unbalancing your character.

So.. challenge for you... join our DiD family... run a character ( born and dies on the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1613638-the-skyrim-dead-is-dead-thread-xxvi/ ) on legendary... any quest-line(s) you choose... but you must make it to at least lvl 40 and must create your own armor and weapons...Deadric or Dragonbone... and must abide by the DiD rules.. we play on the honor system. Every few days you would need to post your stat's ( skill lvl's, armor and weapon rating, over all lvl etc .. which we do for competitions)
