Disappointments...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:42 am

So we got told to expect some "new" info this week and so far all we have is not really that much "NEW" info, its all been hinted on before apart from the map. i wouldn't really count a first quest to be new info as its a spoiler so people probs dont want to hear that anyway... i didn't! but had to read it for the supposed "new info". So now even gametrailers who we've all anticipated most to bring us some real new info has now removed the words they used to have "with exclusive reveals". So I guess there is no new info. The only genuine new info is how kajhiit and orcs now look, which someone can only get sorta interested in. Once you've seen it thats it, just a picture and no real long lasting excitement or anything extra info to derive. So now we have the same threads repeating over and over again. So yeah, I'm disappointed.

Can we get some more in-between choices? Like satisfied with some disappointments?

Is something that happens less than an hour into the game count as a spoiler? And I bet Todd could've actually spoiled alot more about the opening sequence , I bet alot more happens than what we've been told which is essentially : You're a prisoner you've been brought across the border to Skyrim.

I'm about half way between "satisifed I guess" and "disappointed". I like the info we did get (a few new pics, particularly the Khajiit and Orc, some clarifications and a bit of new info), but I'm disappointed because I was expecting more by the way it was talked about.

I'm not sure that quest is something that happens less than an hour into the game. At least, in as much as the quest to fetch Martin in Oblivion was. It might be one of the first quests you're expected to get, but given the open nature of the game, you can do a bunch of other things before ever touching it.

Personally i wanna see some real combat, preferably the whole demo gameplay that the media got. Then i can really pick what i think. But i trust the devs will make it more amazing than oblivion so i am giving the bene\fit of the doubt.

I posted some new "info" or more like comments and confusion about older things in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1181653-persuasion-lockpicking-horses-dragon-mounts-birthsigns-battle-music-and-seasons/

We also saw some new info about DX 11 and how that might turn out in the "future"...

Seeing new screens was also nice, but I've seriously been hoping to see some amazing screens of the ocean on a stormy day, and the valleys of Skyrim on a bright sunny day (where I can see far far far far!) and cities from ground-perspective. I also want to see more sunsets with direct sunlight, because that's just beautiful :P

I'm a scenery guy so I'm more excited about stuff like that though.

In any case: The info we got this week was not so much of "hard" or "direct" info. It was more... stories. Stories told from the eyes of Dovhakiin. Stories told of how the game would actually be like if we played it for some time. I think stories like that tell more about the game than any "hard/direct" info. It's only stories like that that truly shine on how amazing a TES game actually is.

I'm sure TES will continue to provide the gaming experience closest to my idea of the perfect gaming experience. It may be getting a bit further from my ideal and flirting with the mainstream, but it's still the closest by far (compared to the other modern games coming out).

It's the opening though, equivalent to being locked in the Imperial Prison.

I guess I'm more of what you consider a "casual" gamer then, whereas you would be "hardcoe"

I am quite content with the info we have benn given, or more presisly, after Todd gave the reasons for the changes. His reasons make sense, but I hope it don't turn out to simple. I don't think it will, but the fear will be present until I play the game myself.

Dont you think its not really a spoiler since the devs wanted you to know about it? Theres probably not gonna be a golden claw quest in game. Theres a good chance it was a demo quest.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with the info that we have received. There are many fantastic improvements such as:

- NPC lifestyle and interaction
- Finishing moves
- Perks
- More visceral combat
- Unique dungeons
- Reduction of level scaling
- Significant graphic improvement

Like many others, I am apprehensive regarding the elimination of many attributes. Although I trust Bethesda's judgement and can see how perks and skills can be used instead, there was just something about leveling my attributes that was part of my TES experience. Even though that concern is in the back of my mind, I believe that they wouldn't have eliminated most attributes if it detracted from the experience.

Sounded like it was outside to me (starting in a village, going to a mountain, etc), not trapped in some place. So unless they lock you into that path, which would be very very dumb...

Besides, the encounters seemed a bit much for a level 1 starting character.

I'm very satisfied. The articles have been good, some are great and great with detail, describing how they felt about what they saw, not just mechanical reporting. I'm going to be one who doesn't want to know too much so as the time comes closer, I won't read as much anolysis by the good people here because I want to make up my own mind and not be steered in a certain direction. :)

The only thing I'm disappointed about is the changes to Blocking. Who's stupid (Censored) idea was it to have both Triggers do it instead of one trigger. :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer:

Other then that everythings been perfect I love the changes that have been made.

I wasn't comparing it as in being locked in a location but I think you are still a captive , and Esbern had a vision and was sent by the Nine to liberate you?
The first half of that is basically confirmed, the second is my speculation

Well, we haven't heard anything really new, except the final confirmation that attributes and birthsigns are gone, which overall was not the best kind of news.
So we got a few more screens which we already had on Monday. They are nice and all, but not really something to sink your teeth in. I was hoping for more news-meat.

Quite satisfied. What I need now it's some gameplay video. Hopefully something will be shown before E3.

At E3 is the most probable, some magazines might have some small features before then but don't expect anything major

I didn't think of the information as anything special.I was hoping for the human races to be shown(preferably a Breton) instead of the Khajit and Orc.Still, any new info is good I guess but still a long way from release.

It wasn't anything earth-shattering, but I'm satisfied with what we've learned of the game so far.
