Disarm Shouts

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:47 pm

Haha you are pretty naive. The Draugr who used the Disarm shout could shout it across the room and disarmed my bow at least 5 times...

Not from behind cover he can't. or not if he cannot catch me. I kicked that Draugr's ass with a bow. He tried using that shout on me and kept missing me.

When you hear him start to use it, can't you un-equip your weapon for a second, then re-equip after the shout is finished?

And you can also stay far enough away from him that when he uses it, it will miss you.

The full force Fus-Roh-Dah was especially humiliating. I'd only recently got to the point where I was starting to feel pretty capable, and I haven't especially forced myself to follow the quest, so my unrelenting force was still level 2.

I kicked the doors open, and the overlord smashed his way out of a coffin. Growling I ran up to land a blow before he could stand fully, managed to get a charged slash across him, smirked, backed off and hit him with unrelenting force and piled another powerful slash.

I almost dropped my controller when he shrugged off my attacks and showed me a real Fus-Roh-Dah... I somersaulted into a wall, dazed.

...I felt so owned.

This is annoying, spending ages runnig around trying to find my daedric artefact or other unique weapon, either during combat or after.

In order to maintain the strategic imperative of having a backup weapon, etc, then maybe the weapon could be unequipped but stay in the inventory, and a cooldown period could be applied, in that you cannot reequip the weapon during a certain period (ten seconds, twenty seconds?). That way you get the challenge without worrying about losing your weapon to physics or glitching floors/walls.

Wish the weapon just spawned in my inventory after the shout.

Nah, I like it the way it is, even if it's annoying as hell, but that's the point right?

It might be better to start a fight with such adversaries with the "second best" weapon (set) in hands, and switch to the primary weapon (set) when we get disarmed, or become confident enough that it is not happening.

Hahaha, it's is annoying but I love it. It's like that one moment during a fight when I think "damn... nice move." I love it. The first weapon I dropped from that I never did find.

But, you know that you can learn that shout right? It's just as much fun to use against your enemies as it is frustrating to have it used against you.

True... but so far, almost all enemies, run into a different room to grab another weapon which aggroes their buddies so they attack me all at once, ...i tend not to use that shout too much anymore because of this reason

So just use your ethereal shout and look for your weapon. That's what it was meant for.

I like this, its funny, I think thats the point its supposed to be annoying. I spent ages panicking, being chased around trying to find my bow. I'm glad they have this sort of things and they need more of this. It doesnt do the player good to just coast along with nothing annoying other than death. Lots of greats games have had purposeful annoying things happen to the player.

They should give the player more reasons to continue with playing though. Like another adventurer finds your weapon and gives it back, for a price perhaps(you wrote your name and address on it).

I lost my magic bow this way. I guess someone needs to figure out a shout of re-arming. Try reversing the words!

I have never been disarmed, I have killed quite a lot of deathlords now and all they use is unrelenting force? I'm level 50+ btw.

I think its great !!, I was surprised the first time it happened to me. It made the fight really enjoyable, though more difficult.

You can compensate a bit for this by moving to a location where it will be easier to pick it up when it happens again.

The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that when you pick it up again, it loses the favorite, and hot key status, so you have to set it up every time you pick it back up.

Lol, this hasn't happened to me yet, but I can definitely see how frustrating that would be. Also challenging, though. It's nice with some opponents who knows how to apply proper tactics instead of reducing every fight to hack-and-slash.

It's... Kinda annoying at times. It also really mixes things up so I'm of a split mind about this.

know it sounds a bit sadomasochistic but ive always been a believed that if your character can do something than a similar npcs should be able to do the exact same thing to you. whether its sneak attacks from behind or disarming shouts or headshots with a sniper rifle.....they should have the same ablities. forces you to play alot smarter and makes the game infinitely more fun.

I have to agree, whilst punishing it is so much more fun :D

Exactly, how lame would the shout be if you got the thing placed back in your inventory.

The weapon is often right before your feet the moment disarm is shouted at you, but most weapons fall a little bit through the ground texture so you can't see them.

I have been hit several times with their shouts, but i have never dropped my hammer. Is it the same shout that knocks you back also? What about the shouts from Scourges? They dont seem to do anything. Anyway the deathlords need that knock back shout to land a few free shots with their bow. They go down way too easy anyway these days. im level 42 and they take 2 hits to go down.

Nah, this only means you ruined the game for you ^^ They are tough enemies for my atronarchs. 2 of them can clearly wreak havok. Add Kvenel to the mix and you know what's going on.
