Disc 2 problem

Post » Sat Sep 18, 2010 8:40 pm

I recently bought Fallout 3 GOTY, I installed the first disc just fine, but when I tried to install the 2nd disc with the DLC I got this message:

D:\

Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.

Anyone know what's wrong or how I can fix this?

GOTY disc 2 issues are a problem for so many people. Apparently it's because there's so much information stored on the disc. There's two things you can try:

1) Worked for me, eventually. Allow the disc to auto-run (stick it in the drive and wait), and don't do anything else while you're waiting. It took a good few minutes before I was able to select the install option, and then had to wait another few minutes before it started the installation.

2) Start your computer in safe mode. F8 during the startup screens I believe? Some have claimed that the disc works fine this way, with no delays at all. Something to do with SecuRom. I haven't tried this out though, so can't verify that it will work.

Hope this helps if you haven't solved the issue yet.

Thanks Darkstorne, the first option didn't quite work, but the second option worked great.
