Three days earlier...
Adam pulled down his ski mask and his goggles. The vertiberd hovered over the small building. He stood just at the foot of the edge of the open vertiberd, hanging on and looking down. The others were getting prepared. "You see anything, Adam?" Danny asked. "Nope. Looks all clear, preparing for drop." Adam hopped back inside and got his assault rifle. He strapped it onto his back and got the long pile of rope from one of the lockers, tying it onto a railing and tossing the rest down. The rope landed on the roof of the building. Adam looked at the pilot. "Landing perimiter all clear, waiting on your permission to drop." Adam said.
The pilot gave a thumbs up. With that, Adam attached his belt to the rope and slid down, both hands hanging onto the rope. Adam looked up to see the others coming down as well. Adam's feet his the roof of the building. Adam unhooked his belt from the rope and watched as the others came down. All four landed down, and unhooked themselves from the rope. The rope was slowly pulled back up to the vertiberd. Adam hesitated when his radio went off. "Alright, sergeant Brown. Lead these guys to the base and get the technology we desperately need. We'll pick you up in four days, over." the pilot said, while flying off.
Adam clicked his radio and said, "Roger that. We'll report anything unusual, over." Adam fastened his goggles and trotted to the ventilation shafts opening. Adam kicked the paneling until it came off, then slid in and went down the vents. Adam crawled through the vents and popped open the first opening he saw. He jumped from the opening onto a desk, and the others did the same. The small building appeared to just be a small Army recruitment center. Adam knew better. He walked behind the desk and opened the door that read 'EMPLOYEES ONLY'. It was a small janitors' room, but there was a lockpad against the wall. "Ericka, come get this thing opened."
Ericka came from the corner to inspect. She was wearing the same bullet proof vest and fatigues as the others, except she had a gasmask over her ski mask. "No problem." she said, her voice muffled by the gasmask. She started up her wrist-decrypter, which was a small computer that was placed on the wrist. They had found it in a RobCo factory, most likely used for robot engineers. She connected the decrypter with the keypad, and pressed some buttons on the decrypter. In only moments, the numbers on the screen flew by quickly, and stoppd on the number code, one number at a time. Ericka smiled under her mask. "We're good to go." She punched in the numbers on the pad, and the floor opened in two and revealed a hidden staircase.
Adam motioned for the other three guys to come in. The gear that was attached to their vests and clothing clanked loudly as they came in. Danny was first to go down. He was an African-American, who used to live in the California ruins. He was a tribal before he joined the squad. He wore a black combat helmet with protective goggles, but unlike the others, he didn't wear a ski mask. He never really talked, but he spoke through shooting snipers, which was his talent. After Danny went, Lenny went. He claimed to be from the Capital Wasteland, but how he made it to the HQ in New Couver from DC was unknown.
Lenny had pale skin, was a little shy sometimes, and he was the engineer of the squad. He repaired all the guns and fixed up the vests and pads they wore in battle. He even sometimes added a little reinforcement, such as titanium plates under the cloth to be unseen. He wore a ski mask on his face, and the standard vest and paddings. After Lenny ran down, the last squad member was Red. He was a ghoul, and he didn't say much about where he was from, other than that he was from 'down south'. He never mentioned anything of his past either. His job was a medic. He carried a backpack with medical supplies and he used a shotgun. He wore a gasmask like Ericka, but he didn't wear a ski-mask with it.
After they went down, Ericka followed. Adam looked around, then followed the rest of them. The stairs kept turning to the left, and they went down pretty far. Once they got off the stairs, they found themselves in a small room. There was a train on the far right, which was in the opening of a long tunnel. Ericka walked to its doors. The doors wouldn't open. "Door's locked, and there's nothing I can do about it." she said. Lenny came to the door, and took the thin, sharp end of his crowbar and shoved it into the crack of the door. He pushed on it for about half a minute, then the doors gave way, sending the crowbar and Lenny to the floor. Lenny put away the crowbar and got up. "Fixed 'yer problem." he said. Ericka stepped in. They were in the second car to the control room.
Ericka walked through the car to the end, and opened the sliding door. The controls were all there, including the ones to start the train up. She sat down on the seat and searched for a switch to turn it on. "Aha.. there you are.." she said to herself, spotting a lever. She wrapped her hand around it and pulled. Nothing. The power was dead. "Guys, power's out." she called. Lenny came in, to fix another problem. "The wiring should be in the control room." he said. He found an electrical box, and opened it to find the cords unplugged. "Just give me a sec." he said, plugging cords into matching outlets. Once all the cords were in, he brought his hand to the large 'START' button, and pushed it. As he did that, the train jerked forward and the main lights in the train shined.
The lever to start the train up moved back to its original place. "Pull that and we'll be moving." Lenny told, leaving the room. "Yeah, like I couldn't figure that out." Ericka replied. She pulled the lever back down. All the doors on the train slammed shut, and the train roared down the tunnels deeper underground. Adam and the rest of the squad were in the second train car, waiting til the train stopped. It was going to be a rough ride.
