To me why would the devs lie?

Because they are trying to sell a game to make money? Besides that, they love to exaggerate and stretch things a lot.

And when has BGS ever lied?

Uh, Oblivion?

Maybe someone else has mentioned it, but the clip that had the windmill in it really, really reminded me of Buckkeep Castle from the Robin Hobb books. Ominous dark castle situated on top of craggy rocks that drop far down to the river? Almost identical. It makes me wonder in what other ways they might have been inspired by her (her vision of the dragon personality would make me so happy)

Fantastic trailer, and you could tell it was in game footage, if not the player viewpoint at all times.

I don't think it's water. I think it's icy slush, like partially melted snow.

If the people complaining didn't realize that then

Everyone's white...

I should have known it would be a waste of time to read through all of the four threads :P Seems like watching the video 10 times in full speed and many more in slo-mo gave me all the information I needed : THIS GAME WILL BE EPIC ! :celebration: Like I've always said.

Btw, Killmoms, you are a god. That trailer was a masterpiece.

I'm laughing so far.

http://byblos.2.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=155

From there...
[DEV QUOTE by, MrSmileyFaceDude]
You're walking through a seedy part of a town in Western Cyrodiil. People mill about, some engaged in conversation, others minding their own business, out on their own errands. Suddenly, an ugly man decides he doesn't like you. Maybe he's drunk, maybe he's just a bully, maybe he's just showing off in front of his friends -- but for whatever reason, he has taken your measure and decided he can best you.

He comes charging at you, with a nasty looking mace in his hand and a look of hatred on his face. Onlookers move back to make room for what should be an entertaining fight.

Quickly drawing your sword and shield, you wheel around to face him. He's upon you pretty quickly though, and you barely have time to raise your shield (hold right mouse button) before his first blow thunders down upon you.

But you block well, and as he recoils from the collision, you quickly perform left & right slashes with your sword (left click, pause, left click). The bully realizes this isn't going to be easy.

He backs off a bit, and starts dodging around you. First to the left, then to the right. You maneuver to keep him in view, looking for an opening. Suddenly he steps back, raises his mace in both hands, and steps forward, bringing the mace towards your head in a crushing blow!

But you're quick -- you step to the side as he attacks. As he passes by, you execute a spinning maneuver and slash him in the side (hold left mouse button and left maneuver key). The hit is solid, and your foe staggers from the blow.

But it's not over yet. The bully swings his mace wildly -- his first swing misses, but the next one connects for a blow that sends you staggering. Pressing his advantage, the bully bears down on you with a power attack of his own. OUCH. This isn't going well. You take a glance at your health meter, it's getting a bit low. You quickly back up out of the bully's reach and raise your shield (hold right mouse button).

He's hurting, too. You circle each other for a time, looking for an opening, trying to recover some fatigue. Finally the bully charges forward with a devastating overhead blow, perhaps hoping to break your shield. But the shield holds and the recoil send him staggering back. This is your chance! You perform a mighty forward power attack (hold the left mouse button, press forward) and connect solidly. The blow staggers your foe once again, and you perform 3 slashing attacks in rapid succession (left mouse button, pause, left mouse button, pause, left mouse button), and finally the bully collapses to the ground, defeated.

The crowd disperses, going back to their own business.

I think a high pitched shriek followed by "That. Was. Awesome!" accurately sums up how awesome that was. Just sheer, oozing awesomeness out of every orifice that it had. And if the river is the thing that looks the worst in the entire game, then damn, I don't care one bit. It looked awesome.

Where is the ominous dark castle in the windmill part?

Also I've watched it a ton of times and still can't figure out what the pc is doing to that bandit/enemy towards the end of the trailer next to what looks like a nirnroot?

Everything in that trailer was incredible. I never could have expected such a blast. :celebration:

The graphics are beyond amazing (and they say that's from an Xbox 360, just wow!).

I can't take it. How can I concentrate on work tomorrow? :banghead: Skyrim looks too good. :celebration:

It's right behind the windmill. You only see it clearly just before the clip ends. Okay, it's not that ominous, but those are definitely ramparts.

I'm amazed at how advanced the game looks considering it's so long away.

EDIT: And I think he's running him through with a dagger/short sword.

Think before you post. A dragon is a mythical creature. In other words, not real! Dragons aren't confined to a certain look, as long as its somewhat reptilian and can fly IMO.

Dragons don't need four legs to be called a dragon...

I didn't realize about the Wyvern. That is a good point. Just because Dragons are not real, most people have an idea what a dragon is. What is next we are going to have Glittering Vampires
in sunlight in Skyrim now? :shocking:

Here from the Wiki for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon.

Dragons are usually shown in modern times with a body like a huge lizard, or a snake with two pairs of lizard-type legs, and able to emit fire from their mouths. The European dragon has bat-type wings growing from its back. A dragon-like creature with no front legs is known as a wyvern.

So while yes, it is still a dragon, it is a wyvern and not a Dragon. You didn't need to be so mean about it. The poster who said this was correct.

I was impressed by just about everything in the trailer. Definitely has me pumped for November. The only drawbacks that I can see are the textures in the environment and the combat. The textures in the outdoor scenes look about on par with Oblivion, it just looks like they cover them up much better with the added fog and effects. Overall though, it still makes the game look quite nice.

As for the combat, if you watch the scene where the character is fighting a nord warrior outside, he jumps and spins and you see some blood fly, but the sword never even comes that close to the enemy. I thought they were focusing on the physics and making the combat appear to "connect"? Oh well, everything else looks great. Characters, animations, and creatures look much improved. LOVE The fact that blood stays on characters (at least the PC) and weapons now.

My favorite Oblivion lie was the part about broken weapons flying out of your hand after breaking. Wouldn't it be great to charge at the Adoring Fan with a sword, only for it to shoot out of your hand and fly off of Dive Rock?

ok yea I went back and saw it. It looks like the pc is touches the guys neck and he falls over?

Also, what's up with that one skeleton that points his weapon at you? It's towards the end of the trailer with the pc forming a fire spell in both his hands and it looks like the skeleton on the left points at you?

So, it has two legs instead of four. Who cares? It looks like a dragon in my eyes, so I'm calling it a dragon. Plus a Wikipedia definition is hardly legitimate.

And its a mythical creature. There is no fine line between a dragon and not.
