A Discussion About Argonians

Post » Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:00 am

The first ES game I played was Oblivion. After that, I played Morrowind. For both of those games, I was an Argonian. Something struck me about them and I needed to be an Argonian. I am sure they will be in Skyrim (Bethesda can't NOT put them in). So as long as they are in the game as a playable race, I will be an Argonian. So, I'm wondering, what would YOU like to see Argonians as in Skyrim? With the updated graphics, I have no doubt that they will look different than they have in past games. Yet I can't help but hope that they don't change too much. The change from Arena/Daggerfall to Morrowind/Oblivion was quite drastic, yet I much prefer the latter version of Argonians.

Obviously I expect them to be different. However I do not want a drastic change. I will be okay with minor changes to make them look better, but not so much that I can't recognize them. Yes I want them to look better, but not too much different. I want to know your thoughts on Argonians in Skyrim, and if you would play as one.

I was wondering the same thing about Argonians/Kajhiit...I'm sure they'll look amazing with the new engine.

Kajiits should be fine... argonians from blackmarsh will need parkas (no snowboots: beast races can't wear them)

I think it'd be cool if Kajhit's fur was more whiteish since it's a colder and snowy environment.

As far as Argonians go, wouldn't it be unrealistic to have reptiles in such a cold place? That being said, I'm sure they'll be in the game but I think it'll look kinda funny unless they stay indoors huddled next to a fireplace.

Maybe they became warm-blooded and started wearing snuggies everywhere.

Would be cool if Argonians got a penalty to speed in the snow.

I want to see actual claws make a return, along with proper beast legs that account for the balance role of the tail (animals with tails wouldn't have the same posture as a human without one - doesn't make any biological sense).

Back in Oblivion i always felt bad about cutting holes in the butts of all my trousers and greaves.

I hope they have beast legs again, & claws as well. Be also neat if they added in little details like them tasting the air with theiR tongue & twitching their tail when idle.

Also, no briasts for the females!

I think the change in beast legs was justified by the fact that there are different types of argonians with different anatomical characteristics, though I agree with LastDuaL that it made little sense for the Oblivion argonians to have a tail.

Anyway, check out the list of argonian varieties on this page on the UESP: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Argonian#Tribes

I think it would be cool to see some very distinguishable types of beast characters in Skyrim. How sweet would it be if you could specify that you wanted to play a Sarpa or Naga and your character model was adjusted accordingly?! Would be even cooler with Khajits, because there seems to be much more variety among them: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit#Morphology
