Disgusting Find - Vault 95

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:28 pm

I was just playing Fallout 4 and went into Vault 95. I found the whole concept of what the Vault was absolutely disgusting, I have relatives and close friends that are addicts who are doing amazingly well in recovery and to find that Bethesda think that it's acceptable to put something like a "rehab" vault in and then how they portray everyone then overdosing and using drugs and drink after 5 years is just sickening!!

I mean with the current world climate the use of Suicide Super Mutants is wrong but this is just going too far!

As an organisation Bethesda should be ashamed of itself and it owes Alcoholic Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous an apology!

Do none of your programmers and developers have any morals??

And on the other hand there are people complaining about the game being sanitized and lacking in any genuine evil...

Vault-Tec were complete dikes. That's the point. Many of the vaults are supposed to show the sheer depths of atrocity a "nice, clean, helpful" company can conceal behind a smiling boy in a blue jumpsuit and a giant metal door in the ground.

This bothered you more than the one where they ran genetic experiments on children? Or the ones set up to use the dwellers as guinea pigs in chemical weapons testing?

Having grown up with having to repeatedly phone for emergency services due to a parent attempting suicide it really makes me sick how it's portrayed, I hope no-one suffers what i went through as it destroyed my childhood and the early part of my twenties, given that it is a growing issue and causing people to loose loved ones for real its a sick thing to place in a game, I appreciate they are trying to portray Vault-tec as evil and a shadowy organisation and the other vaults portray it well, this portrays it exactly like a real meeting for addicts and thats where it's over the top

Avoid the game if it is difficult to see this type of thing. Trust me, I am very sensitive to other people's feelings, but you can't expect a game for advlts to be completely politically correct or whatever. advlt game, advlt themes.

Bethesda is no doubt profit driven, if enough people didn't buy it because of what was in the game, they would change it. Most people will be able to play fo4 and not be affected in any bad way Im guessing.

I know how you personally feel though. Just know, not everyone will feel the same way as you. I know I cant watch some movies because of the gratuitous display of violence/suffering. Makes me think of the movie Silent Hill when they burn the cop woman at the stake. that made me sick. Definitely wont be watching that movie again!

I have a hard time relating to video game violence/themes though, mainly because I don't see the characters in video games as real at all. Its easy for me to see it as pure fantasy. Alternatively, I cant even watch, for example, skateboarding outtakes where people get hurt. Movies and other videos are different for me, probably because they include actual people and its easier to relate. With video games though, I haven't met my limit of violence/themes that has turned me off lol.

Actually there is implied slavery in the game a bunch of times, and well you can part-take in it at somepoint. Just saying. Even though it does not smack you as hard in the face as Fallout 3. When things are subtle, its often for the best.

If you think Vault 95 was bad, Vault 75 was basically Vault-Tec turning children into Halo Spartans and forcing them to breed for the best possible soldier genome; and for the kids who didn't pass with high enough scores, they were either incinerated or made to test on the next generation.

Sometimes yes but with settlers and beacons to draw them in they're practically begging to be slaves :P

It's just sad that sensitivity spoils some forms of entertainment, even when they're slightly sadistic yet still funny (all in good taste).

It's the suburban effect where you really only care about things that you have actually had contact with in YOUR life.

I'll try and say this as politely as I can:

"I am offended, so therefore I need everyone else to control my emotions because i can't."

Just because you're offended, doesn't make you automatically "right."

I have best friends who are recovering addicts: and one of them loves this game. He's been to vault 95. And since he is a grown advlt with thick skin, he didnt' feel it necessary to come soap box on the forums about this.

Also I hate when people get offended on my behalf (Bi-racial, Latino, and Muslim). Keep your PC SJWing to yourself please. If people can't freely traffic ideas anymore then I fear for the future.

The fact that this is a serious post is ridiculous. You are being offended because of the lack of willpower that FICTIONAL characters have, fictional characters that are trapped in an underground vault during the end of the world. Put yourself in their shoes and embrace the end of the world party man lol

Yeah I don't think going onto the developers forums and complaining about something like that will do much good. As others have said this is a tame entry in the Fallout series compared to others that included more up front prostitution and slavery. Older Fallouts allowed for you to run and perform at a porm studio. It is rated Mature for a reason and should be followed. It does also mentioned 'use of drugs' in the ratings explanation. You chose to play, given your own personal history and experience. If someone sees 'graphic violence' as a bullet point on the rating explanation and they are offended by that, THEY choose to play it or not. Isn't that what advlts are able to do?

Well, then you might have to realise, that Fallout is not your type of game. If you get offended by a fictional situation, that has nothing to do with anything from real life, other than the resemblence of something going on in real life (e.g. drug abuse) If people ran around dictating the content of games, movies etc. We would all be staring at a white clinical room with nothing in it, because someone could always complain about something that "touches" life-experience to close.

I get that, a person can be sensitive to such things, so again, Fallout may not be your game.
