Dishonorable to loot the ancient crypts?

This line of discussion interested me as it evolved in the Joke thread. I thought it warranted a topic of discussion to collect the view of the populous.

Here is the initial collective...

So, no matter the character, although you can feel free to take as many cheap stabs :poke: at the evolutionally challenged frostbacks as much as you wish... ,... what say you?

In my opinion / personal lore, if you're brave enough to venture yourself into those ruins, you deserve the loot you can get.

And either your ancient ancestors are happily testing you in combat while you're there, or I give a crap about stealing from stupid dragon cultists.

Now, do my characters do it? Aw... Hell and yea! It's a staple of the sheer existence for my Necromancers to defile the living, let alone the already dead and undead. As for the rest of my characters,? Well... they are on the dark side to start with and will loot everything that is not nailed down.

Although, they are all completely disgusted with a damn dirty thief, in general. I know that is rather ambiguous, but they find a difference in looting crypts and outright thievery. The more I think about it... grave robbing is still robbing, isn't it?

Still, I find it to be anything but honorable for any race, especially a Nord to have no remorse or respect for their ancestors. That is IF there is such a thing as an honorable Nord to start with. ( note the prodding I mentioned earlier )

I think it was Belrand who said something like "these ancient cryps are full of treasures, but we should leave something out of respect for the dead" . From then on I started taking only items from urns, but never the money.

The real mistery is how these old cryps still contain so much treasures. Appearantly the player character is the first in thousends of years to disrespect the dead.

The real mystery is why modern day septims, armor, and other assorted items are stashed away in a supposedly unopened tomb that pre-dates the first Empire.
