Disintegration Breaking Repeatable Quests

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:59 pm

So disintegrating respawning creatures/npcs such as ones for repeatable radiant quests, such as killing X bandit/dragon/giant breaks the quest the next time you get a quest pointing to the location. Same with disintegrating npc's from quests that require a corpse.

There's no quest marker, the pile of ash is still there but doesn't seem to point to anything. So the quest becomes impossible to complete.
This is slightly worse than new vegas's problem with disintegration were NPC's respawn but you can access their inventory by the pile of ashes the last time you killed them.

So is there a way via console to make them respawn? or is the quest broken for good.

Edit: u may use uesp to look up NPC since the creation kit has yet to hit the virtual shelves

Pull up console, click ash pile, type resurrect. Hope that works.
If not find the ID of NPC and type placeatme ID

Yea, ash piles have a new allocated FormID (resurrect/recycleactor won't work); so I'm probably stuck till the CK comes around. Thanks.

I probably should stop using shock damage altogether.

Well if you're on PC, you could just look up the Quest ID and use the console to complete it. UESP typically lists the quest IDs for you.

I did that before, but it doesn't help if you get assigned the same quest location the next time.
Because so far as I can observe; the disintegrated quest targets will never respawn.
