Dismissing Summons

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:51 pm

Just curious if people would like the ability to dismiss your summons. I think it would be a nice idea. Hate it when my Frost Atronach gets in my way and I can't get around him. The same button (for me it's E on the keyboard) option comes up on him just like talking to a follower. Would be nice if you could hit that key and then have the option to dismiss them.

Or is this just a stupid idea?

If you get trapped by him, cast another one further away, it will cancel out the first summoned creature.

I just use my buffed-up summoned sword for that.

I don't see a harm in dismiss, but I don't think I'd use it. Didn't oblivion have that spell?

Yes, it was in Conjuration.

Conjure a weapon and strike your summon with it, if you have the related perk that is.

Marvellous, did you even read OP and the question that has been arisen?

They've replaced the spell with a perk... guess you have to live with that choice. You do gain experience for the kill, so you can effectively level all weapon skills without ever leaving your home.

I personally wouldn't. It doesn't add any "fun" factor to the game. But kids these days look for any exploit they can get.

It does, at least in Skyrim being single player it doesn't affect anyones game but their own. Nothing worse than finding those sort of players on an MMO, been there, raged hard.....

Very true. Players abusing the games on a mmo is what makes a mmo horrible to play. Sometimes they don't even take them out until after it's been hardcoe abused. Sad :(

It's why I quit DCU after it being free for three weeks, got into the game, loved the PvP until I found a spanish clan that just abused animations and glitches like no other. One trick would be to somehow spike your ping so you would be locked into animations, whereupon their DPS would decimate you.

Pretty unfair advantage there, and I too seen so many unfair advantages also. I have to end up being a good player that does nothing wrong, and doesn't abuse things. The companies that don't choose to fix it or even fix it weeks after. God help them. They are just losing loyal players.

I do that sometimes. Other times I wait it out if it has been out a while. And sometimes I just don't want the thing thumping along behind me when I'm traveling and exploring. Being able to just dismiss it would be nice, imo.

I don't see a harm in dismiss, but I don't think I'd use it. Didn't oblivion have that spell?

I'm not even looking for a spell, just a dialogue option of "Dismiss" or "Cancel" when you are next to your summon. The key (at least on PC) option (followed by Fire/Frost/Storm Atronach), displays just like if you were next to an NPC or follower and you want to talk to them.

They've replaced the spell with a perk... guess you have to live with that choice. You do gain experience for the kill, so you can effectively level all weapon skills without ever leaving your home.

See above quote/response. Yep, there are a lot of choices we have to live with as players, not all bad either. Not really interested in killing or gaining xp from it. Don't have the perk, don't use weapons on this character. Just want to have a dialogue option to dismiss summons and even zombies (sometimes zombie moaning gets on my nerves).

Hate to give a genereic response after your lengthy post but, this is probably moddable with the CK.

I would like to dismiss my summons. Because many of my characters don't feel right about bring a summons into a city or village, so I have to wait outside until the summons is gone to go into town. I have one character that is a Master Conjurer but never got the permanent summons for just that reason.

It is also annoying when you get stuck by a summons.

I hope there is a mod out there for this. Never used mods ever in MW or OB, but am just using one so far in Skyrim that allows me to customize my compass. I only have the cardinal points (N, S, E, W) on it now.

@Savlian,

I don't quite go that far, but I would dismiss before going into town if it were an option. These are the kinds of things that can cause some players frustration. Small things, but still.

You don't need a mod. You can dismiss it with a console command.

There is a dismiss daedra spell in there, but my summons always seem to resist it. Sometimes I want to get rid of them if my human follower messes up and uses a staff that accidentally hits them getting them mad. I really don't care if I'm getting a skill XP bonus for it.

I will have to look up the console command, I assume it is dismiss or something of the like. Never really used console commands either so kind of a noob in that area even after playing PC games going on 20+ years.

You've been missing out.

I'm sure I have. Just don't like messing with that stuff much as I don't know much about it and worry about messing things up with conflicts etc...of multiple mods.

I'd like this a lot. I sneak a lot so dismissing at the end of battle is a must if I want to stay unseen.

We are talking 60 seconds here. I know we live in a rocket fueled society but how about just waiting a few seconds.
