Displaying Multiple Weapons on Body

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:50 am

This is a simple request, we need to be able to see multiple weapons equipped at the same time, at least make it possible to enable this with by .ini tweak like we did back in skyrim. If the goal of Fallout 4 is immersion, we cannot run around magically summoning rocket launchers and miniguns out of the blue whenever we need them. 3 or 4 weapons would be amazing and very appreciated by the community.

I loved the mods that built upon the base functionality hidden away in Skyrim. I always carry a semi-realistic armoury on my Bethesda characters, and actually seeing the rifle and pistol for Fallout 4's character in their holster or sling would remove one of the very last limits between how I imagine my character and how the game renders them that still remain.

Since I play Bethesda games almost entirely in first person, the lack of all weapons appearing on my character's body never bothered me too much.

It would be a nice addition but I doubt it will be in the vanilla game. I'm sure someone will mod it in eventually though.

I would dig this option, but it'd be sweet if it was for everything not just weapons. Always keep a pack of smokes on ya when traversing the Wastes.

I suspect they stick to one, to easier avoid akward clipping issues between weapons and the armour you wear, double so with the new moding mechanic.

Well that's making quite the assumption.....

Eh, only by a subset of "the community". Some people like that look. Some people like having backpacks/bags/etc. Some people think that having their characters look like hobos covered in bags/sheathes/straps is ugly as sin. Different people like different things.

(Personally, if they did something like "every weapon you have hotkeyed shows up on your character", I'd end up with a very awkward-to-play game, because I wouldn't be using hotkeys.)

I don't think anyone was suggesting it be mandatory for everyone. The fact you bring up that some people like it and others don't is a good reason to include the option to enable this feature.

Would look completely ridiculous. No offense. A rocket launcher, assault rifle and a shotgun would just look awful. Mix and match those with whatever loadout you please and there are few combinations that wouldn't. Never mind that the best attempts at showing a holster (if they didn't just opt for the magically stuck to your back choice) look awful for heavy weapons and most likely not even logical. Really the safest bet here is just pulling them out of thin air unless they restrict our characters to having certain load outs to make holsters a feasible idea such as a sidearm on the hip/thigh, assault rifle/smg/shotty on a sling maybe a melee weapon fitted to your side opposite the sidearm and the back delegated to heavy weaponry.

Doubt it'll be in vanilla as someone else mentioned clipping will be a huge issue. Between wearing clothing AND armor (it seems that we can layer them now) there are just too many variables to account for. Then all the modifications to weapons? just seems like too much to worry about to do cleanly

Definitely would be awesome. Love the idea of a long rifle strapped to my char's back with a mirelurk shell inlaid pistol in a deathclaw leather holster hanging loosely at the hip. Quickly discourage hte locals from thinking too hard about what's in my pockets.

I could see it happen for hot key'd items. Depends on how it's all set up. If you can hotkey more than 4 weapons I don't really see it happening. However, if there are actual weapon slots tied to hotkeys then it's completely possible. I don't think we've seen anything about how we're going to be accessing a quick menu yet so that's all up in the air.

How about a mod (or option) that causes the camera to toggle from 3rd to 1st person automatically when you draw a weapon/enter combat? Combat/aiming is tricky in 3rd person anyway (usually), so most people won't be fighting in that perspective (I suspect). Then you'd be able to explore in 3rd person and see your character, plus any gear you're carrying, etc, and then jump quickly into 1st person for when problems arise.

It would be pretty awesome to see whatever weapons you have equipped displayed on your body, though I doubt it'll be in the base game. Mods will likely add it at a later date,

In skyrim mods, the weapons you added to your favorite list were shown on your body, if you could have "another" list with the sole purpose of visible weapons, it would be essentialy optional.

I would only accept two holstered weapons at once. Pistol on your hip/or melee weapon. And a heavy weapon/sniper/assault rifle on your back. You can swap back and forth between them in battle. Now that I'm thinking about it, that sounds kind of awesome. Picture it: my character with a plasma pistol on his hip and strapt to his back is a a chinese assault rifle. It's the little things in life that you treasure.

I'd love it if you could have a pistol/SMG at the hip, a longarm at the other hip via a sling, and a weapon on the back all shown on the character at once - exactly like Metal Gear Solid V does it.
