Dispose corpse

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:11 am

Dispose of corpse is really unrealistic, I want the corpses to slowly rot, until there's just a skeleton left. And then you should be able to pick up the skeleton, and throw the bones away.

Waste not, want not... ;)

Well really, I don't like the idea of dead bodies/dropped items being remembered in general. If you drop something, it shouldn't be there the next day. People don't see a murder person and walk by it for 2 years, and people don't step on dropped books for 3 months (Somebody has to recycle, right?). So there, I think it's unrealistic and it takes a tole on our systems, whether you prefer PC or consoles.

Yes, I do. I had no problem with disposing of corpses, just press the button, and poof...the corpse and whatever loot you didn't find worth saluaging went byebye.
Kept the cells clean, stopped ab-ending, and made for a neater, cleaner, world.
I also would like the option of having prekilled corpses with storage capablity. I dearly loved dressing poor Nads Tharen up,

In morrowind, every items went in my inventory.

Edit: voted yes, but perhaps make disposing a corpse take some time ingame (an hour?) as the screen fades to black.

I agree. The other thing I'd like is graveyards that grow if people die. I want to go see Glarthir's grave.

R.I.P. Glarthir :(

No matter what I did, I always felt horrible at his quest's end :sadvaultboy:

Easter egg. Old man comes to retrieve dead bodies of named NPC's after a couple days unless the guards do it. And make 2 of these old guys where one guy is a cannibal and the other actually buries bodies

At the very least, let us move corpses between cells (through doors and the like) and possibly stuff them in barrels. That should be good enough.

I would love to see the ability to pick up and move bodies like the original Thief game had. It would be even better if you could pickup live people and throw them over your shoulder and carry them and set them down somewhere. This would be cool if an NPC went with you on a quest and got wounded and you had to carry them to safety or to rescue a child from the middle of the street when a dragon is breathing fire down the middle of it or be like Conan and rescue a woman and throw her over your shoulder and run away while a bunch of savages chase after you.

Being able to drop a dead body over the back of a horse and bring it back for a bounty would be cool as well.

Why not just have them dissapear after three days.

But personally I liek teh idea of them rotting away. BU that coudl eb alittle nasty. Except if they are in a city, or town or village with people left in it. Then they should dissapear as soon as you leave. Or people should come and move the dead bodies to a graveyard, or mausoleum.

And if some one is dead in teh streets, but there was no battle people should not just walk by. They should be alarmed that there is a dead person there.

I think there should be gameplay elements that dispose of corpses themselves. If somebody dies in or around a city, after 1 day they will be sent to the morgue in a chapel or mages guild where their corpse can be looted. After a week the corpse gets taken to the graveyard and buried by the undertaker.
If somebody dies in the wilderness, they should be picked over by scavengers until nothing but a skeleton wearing armour is left. After a while that skeleton would despawn.

Free some memory? I don't think that's the issue. But yeah, I'd like the option.

Personally, I'd prefer if corpses played a part in stealth and Radiant Story. But if not, then yeah, cleaning the clutter would be useful.

Oh? Was the "dispose corpse" thing to free memory?

Wow! that never even crossed my mind! I just think dead bodies are untidy!

We can dream right? Its 2011, who still has a 32-bit CPU and is able to even run new games at acceptable framerates? They haven't been manufactured at all for years now. Regardless, a 64-bit aware executable isn't too much to wish for. The original Far Cry had a patch that added 64-bit support, and that was when 64-bit was available on one AMD processor. For Skyrim not to have this would be an incredible insult.

How about this? A powerful spell went awry at the Mages Guild in Cyrodel and in the panic of the doom offered by that spell, the mages all came together as one and "pushed" the devastating effects out of Cyrodel, hoping for it to land in the largest body of water in Tamriel where it would have no effect. But it veered off to the North by accident, causing a horrible curse to beplague Skyrim. Now all creatures that die in Skyrim, if not burned within 1 minute after death, will re-animate within moments of being killed, making them stronger than in life. To protect your own life, it is now a requirement to burn the bodies. If you don't burn the body of a dead creature within 60 seconds, it re-animates as zombie (same body model just a different set of zombie-like animations and walk cycle, and dead-white eyes). Until the crisis is abated and the spell's curse is removed, no one can bury their dead in Skyrim. All citizens are required to work together to keep Skryim clean of zombie infestation by the burning of their dead. They could put up a few special burn wagons and have a guy walking around "... bring outcher DEAD! Bring outcher DEAD!" like in Mony Python's Holy Grail (but less funny, more serious) ....

Now after killing any monster, there is a feeling of anxiety to quickly loot them and burn them so they don't come back. Imagine being in combat with like 3 wolves. You kill the first one and now you feel the time begin to count down. But you're busy defending yourself from the other two. You kill the 2nd, and then finally finish off the 3rd, but now a minute went by and suddenly the first one has risen again, darker, with blue glowing eyes, snarling twice as mean. Now you must kill it again, which you do. You quickly burn the 2nd body because it's been dead the longest and could come back (not even pausing to loot because of your fear) and then you loot the other 2 and burn them.

Or what if a city you were in was attacked by a Dragon from the sky, breathing fire. Say in the aftermath there were many dead who did not burn. Now, suddenly, the whole town is rising back to their feet as zombies with a hunger for human flesh: YOURS. You either have to run for it, or start up your flame thrower (just kidding, but something LIKE that anyway)...

It could make death itself have a more tactical situation there, with having to monitor the time between kills and prioritize whether you want to wait to get the loot off the dead bodies or whether you'd prefer to burn the bodies just to be safe.

I realize this is a radical idea, and the majority will not welcome it, just trying to think outside of the box for the sake of my own fun. At the very LEAST I give anyone who likes it my permission to MOD this idea..... that would be sweet!

It would be nice, unrealistic for the body to disappear though but meh. No Memory overload > Immersion

If you want to hide corpses you should have to physically dump them in water or bury them where they will eventually rot. Simply clicking a button to make them disappear breaks immersion.

Not always posible like indoor, this is annoying for some bodies who stays, like the three thieves in the Bravil fighter guild quest. One usually end up laying in front of the shopkeeper.
Console, click on body and type disable solve it on pc.

(Poll added)

In morrowind, we could dispose of corpses to keep the saved game file small...

In Fallout 3, corpses near cities would never disapear and in oblivion, it's the same thing... Since on ps3 save files become unstable when going over 10mb, I thought "if Skyrim gets the option to dispose corpses, the game could run better, and enable smaller saved files... By little, but it would make a difference", it would be great!

Really even with the Cell processor, i thought it "chewed through everything" :shifty:

Seriously though i really like being able to get rid of bodies and would welcome such a feature. Even if we could pick them up and bury them, would be cool.

Well as long as dead bodies near or in populated areas and even if go pass a dead body ceveral times, the body disapears... It can be eaten up by bugs... If there's an option that let us decide if we are finished with the body, or it could some mystery guy.

Simple. Guards clear out bodies every day, bodies in woods get eaten by wolves or decay, dissapearing over time.
