is this a sneak peek of elder scrolls XXI: Metropolitan ??

It certainly looks better than Elder Scrolls XX: Hair Stylist.

It's called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_(graphical). And in this particular case it's an example of foreshortening. It has always been extremely difficult to render 2D without error, and video games attempt the difficult in 3D.

Now, http://oi55.tinypic.com/10ztqva.jpg looks off. Bicep is seriously juiced, but the proportions other wise look good in comparison to what http://oi53.tinypic.com/4rdonq.jpg would have approved of.

It's just a game really, and with temporal perspective we have come a long ways from 8 bit pixie art or 256 marionettes. Have we really become so spoiled and unplugged from reality that we cannot separate and suspend our world from a game?

Pretty sure that what we're seeing the the foreground is his shoulder, not his upper arm, and that his upper arm is foreshortened due to the angle. Not a problem.

I'm sorry but the Dovakhiin's (spelling?) arm looks absolutely horrible, I won't be able to cast spells looking at that thing.

Really? REALLY? I mean, I'm all for wanting the most out of games that aren't out yet that I fortunately have a forum to give my opinion on but of all thing this? This is no where worthy of being a topic.

Meh... He's a Skooma juicer. I'll take him down one mommy-daddy button at a time.

Did you see Taianonni's picture on the precious page? Nothing is wrong with the arm, it's just the angle/lighting that makes it look like that.

Ok, lets compare the two pics.

See any differences?

The wrist in the game looks wrong and the fore arm is way too short. I still stand with my previous post, the perspective is wrong.

Bear in mind the following:

Fish Eye Effect: Anything on the outer edge of the camera is stretched wider than it really is.

It's one still frame of an animation under random lighting. It might look perfectly fine in motion.

Honestly it doesn't look all that bad. If your worried about that enough to make a thread, then I think you need to go play all the other svcky games out there and then come back and realize it looks kickass. I mean most games don't support first AND third person, we're quite lucky.

Sorry, but the picture doesn't look to have any fisheye effect.

The worst part (wrist and fore arm) aren't on the outer edge of the camera anyway.

I tried to replicate the angle a bit better, lighting was worse and, to be honest, the position was tough to get into, easier than when I was in the car but not necessarily natural.

The arm looks fine. The muscles and veins in the arm look entirely realistic, while the weird distortion in the elbow is a scar. (Well, it appears to be a scar. It might just be a particularly creative vein)

The lighting effects give it even more justice. Apart from the skin discoloration caused by the spell, there is a suggestion of hair and so on on the arm. It looks very good. Looks like the arm of a friend of mine, in fact. (Minus the color distortion)

Lets compare again then.

Your fore arm is still longer, I put your arm on top of the game pic, scaled it a bit to make them more or less the same size and then just pushed it to the right.

Yeah, anatomically, it looks fine, the vein down the bicep and on the hand look good, especially during a battle, the blood would be flowing and veins popping out. Mine weren't present because I was not doing anything strenuous and was at a resting heart rate. My actual issue is the lack of presence of tendons in the hand... When the hand is raised like that (as shown in my pictures) the tendons raise quite a bit. And hands aren't really the most common location for storing fat, especially the top.

Well I tried, if I have to try as hard as I did to replicate it, and it still is that off, they need to work on it. That or this guy must have some short forearms. I mean, I am 6'2" but That shouldn't make that big of a difference. Especially if he's a nord here, but we dont know the race. I wasn't on either side, but it did look right to me at first, and thanks to the side by side, I can see some problems with the anatomy design of the shot. I do agree that I more than likely wouldn't notice during a fight, but it is a slight bit disturbing.

.... But the area where the tendons SHOULD BE are whited out by the spell effect hovering above the hand... So you can't see whether they are not present.

I honestly hope you are right. And by 11/11/11, if they aren't shown, I wouldn't be surprised or really all that disappointed.
