If Divayth Fyr is 4000 years old, what era and time would that place him in when he was born and growing up? What were the significant events of that time?

I believe that would put him just prior to the first era or within the first few centuries of the first era.
Sorry, is what you posted 3000 years before Skyrim? Isn't Fyr 4000 years old?
I may have misunderstood you also.
In Resdayn/Morrowind? Naught but the feuding of ancient Chimer tribes and the scheming of secretive Dwemer. Although I suppose the whole War of the Council and the aftermath is kind of big, for certain values of "growing up". I'm not entirely certain how old Fyr is, just "older than the Dunmer by a bit". Enough to remember before ALMSIVI, anyways.
He's older than the Dunmer race? He was originally a Chimer?
What did Chimer look like by the way?
Yes. Look at the yellow half of Vivec or Almalexia.
The change of the Chimer wasn't "all of your kids will become Dunmer" it was they were all changed at the same time save for Ayem, Seht and Vehk, even Dagoth Voryn (aka dagoth ur) underwent the change. One of his daughters says he is 4000 and honestly I don't find that farfetched for a Telvanni which is filled with old wizard-lords, some were around before the empire and possibly before Fyr was born too.
Still younger than Knight-Paladin Gelebor, Arch-Curate Vyrthur, and Miraak. There may also be some Psjiics/Thalmor wizards that are above 4,000 as well. Especially the Psjiics of Artaeum.
I don't think we actually know about Gelebor and Vyrthur making the prophecy could've happened at anytime since the Elder scrolls being outside of time yet inside of the mortal realm. So we can't really say either of them are ancient wizards or are from the first era, it's entirely possible the tainted occupation of the valley is recent or old but yet not as old as they imply in the game.
Maybe a better quetion is whether he born before the foundation of House Telvanni or after, and the age of House Telvanni and other great houses.
I should've really left the bit of my post I edited in so that part made more sense. I somehow misread part of UESP's calendar and came up with 3000 for a time span instead of 2000, don't ask how.

That book says he wasn't.
*edit*
Why do I post so quickly? I'm looking foolish here.
Here's the timeline: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:First_Era
I'm going to bow out of this thread and re-read Morrowind's books.
I imagine it would be around the founding of some of the minor houses and the assimilation of houses that became the great houses, maybe he is the last member of House Fyr that eventually absorbed into House Telvanni
