is Divayth Fyr essential?/ Ministry of Truth over Balmora?

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 7:52 pm

ok, while doing the quest for arch-mage trebonius about the disappearance of the dwarves, I saw Divayth Fyr had full Daedric, or at least all that I didn't have, since I found the Face of God and a Tower Shield. I know I can kill him in a couple hits, so is he essential to anything? if so, when can I kill him without fear of the threads of prophecy?

and:

The Ministry of Truth, over Vivec, has somehow copied itself and moved over Balmora. I have done enough research about the Ministry to safely say, it is in fact the same thing over Balmora. I don't think there are any functioning doors in the Balmora one, but its an eyesore. wtf why did this happen?

And why would you wanna kill him, he's one of the most well known and awesome characters in lore. Go find the suit of Daedric that's scattered across Morrowind.

I recommended finding each http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Daedric_Armor#Armor piece one by one instead of killing a poor 4000 year old wizard. As for the floating stone in the air, that would likely be due to a mod, still funny though.

is that funny? I have a daedric claymore with cast on strike absorb health 17-19 points for 3 seconds (17-19 may be 18-20,or something in that range), enchanted armor amounting up to 171 strength total, 91 long blade skill, and armor value amounting up to somewhere around 130, i'm level 34, and i have some nice restore health spells that always work and restore like 55 HP. i think i can take him.

and besides that, i'd rather not search the wiki for the suit like i did with the face of god. admittedly, i never go in the telvanni canton, nor would i find that tomb, and i had to look at a walkthrough on youtube to find it (wtf?! who looks up there? who found that without help?!), but it made it seem unimportant. i found Divayth Fyr and his armor by myself. plus I'd like to get a move-on with the MQ so I can do Tribunal and Bloodmoon as well, plus I still haven't finished Redoran, Morag Tong, or Imperal Legion quests.

sorry that took so long.

I can safely say that if it is floating over Balmora, it is a mod problem. If you list your mods I will move this to the correct forum.

Set up for screenshots

Go to Start, then Search Windows for files and folders named, morrowind.ini, or morrowind configuration settings if you have windows XP.

When you find the file, double-click on the file name and open it with Notepad. Find the line, Screen Shot Enable=0 and change it to Screen Shot Enable=1.

Read this - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/page__view__findpost__p__11345691

So far as the "object" is concerned, open the console and click on it - the id will show at the top of the console window. Enter ori in the console and that will give you the source of it.

i tried that, and although it moved my saves folder to the morrowind directory, it still shows the same message when attempting to take a screenshot.

as for the "ori" command, it will not let me select it. it seems to have become transparent since my last save, and portions of it disappear as you get closer, until the entire thing is gone. now it wont let me select it, it goes right through it and selects whats on the other side, as if it wasnt even there.

Ha, I didn't know I was dealing with a pro here. Really dude, if it wasn't in game, it's safe to say Divayth would tear your character a new one. He's over 4000 years old and one of the most powerful sorcerers in Tamriel. Sure, a character that powerlevels could kill him, but if it were real life, according to lore, Divayth would turn your character to ash in seconds.

And really, why would you want to kill him, he's a very interesting and well fleshed out character. Why not go and get each piece of the suit, it's worth it in the end after you get it all, and it feels like you accomplished something in a way that mindlessly killing an awesome and powerful character would not.

Sorry for being preachy but what grinds my gears more than anything is people who just blatantly kill people for armor and weapons.

You're using MGE right?

Launch MGE, click on "'Input" (4th tab), then "Launch macro editor" (big button upper right).
Select a key on the keyboard schema (I usually use keys from the numeric pad, like 9), then everything gets disabled except a select box in the bottom left.
Select "Function" from that dropdown list (last option in the list), then another selectbox just underneath gets enabled.
Select "Take screenshot" from that dropdown list (first option in the list, should already be selected).
Click "Save" (button in the bottom right).
When you're in the game, press that key you selected (9 in the numeric pad, in my exemple) and it will take screenshots.

If the Ministry of Truth dissappears as you get closer, it might be because a mod adds it and you generated distant statics from MGE with this mod enabled. Even if it's now disabled from your modlist, it would still appear as a distant static and would dissappear when you get close enough.

And I too think good old Divayth doesn't deserve to die. :P

and thanks for the tips about screenshots, I'll try and get a few pics up by tomorrow

A mere level one could kill him with a few summon daedra scrolls, it's all the same. The guy even invites you to test your thieving skill and take some of his prized loot (The key on his desk leads to another chest with another key that leads to a chest with yet another key to another chest eventually getting the keys to the level hundred locked containers in his quarters which you could get two artifacts from.). Or you could get into the chests by other means, he doesn't mind, that ought prove how nice of a guy he is. Unless you or your character lacks a conscience or is cold hearted you should not kill him.

Whatever, point being, if Fyr had access to his full powers he would screw you over in seconds.

Still, it's stupid to mindlessly kill people for their armor and weapons. And he was a member of an organization that summoned a hurricane to destroy an army that was going to invade Tamriel. He's very very powerful.

If you really want the armor just disintegrate it and pick pocket it. Theres no reason to kill him.

The fact that it has a tower in it suggests that it's a mods doing.

Why don't you just console yourself the armor? It's almost the same thing. You can be lazy and not go after the full suit but not have too kill an innocent.
