Divine Intervention

Post » Fri Feb 04, 2011 6:00 am

I loved in Morrowind how if you were stuck in a dungeon with low health or not enough supplies or even just lost you could use a Divine intervention spell or scroll to get the hell out of there. It was always there to fall back on which i loved. :)

I missed that a lot in Oblivion sometimes getting lost in a dungeon and taking 20 minutes to find my way out again, it was quite frustrating.

Anyway i would like to hear your opinions on this. :D

EDIT: Okay i didn't mean exactly Divine and Almsivi but a Skyrim equivalent. Hope that stops confusion.

But I thought they teleported you to Tribunal temples or Imperial cults or something?

The Almsivi scrolls teleported you to the nearest temple and the Divine intervention teleported you to the nearest Fort or Imperial Shrine.

In Skyrim they could teleport you to the nearest town/city i suppose.

unless every cave is just a circle where I end up where I started, which wont be the case, I think this is a good idea.

All diferent kind of Interventions, one for each religion. Because I hope we get more than one or two religions in the whole province.

I honestly wouldn't care, unless they get rid of healing on wait then I would care

Maybe it should work as a protective spell where you use it, and then while its active, you'll get teleported to the temple instead of dying if your health drops to zero. That would make it seem more like getting saved from death by divine intervention rather than it just being a tranport spell.

Divine, not Almsivi. Vivec, Sotha Sil, and Almalexia are no longer in a position to assist weary adventurers.

IDK, we have fast travel now, so it's kinda pointless.

It never felt right to me, so no.

I guess it's just that I seriously have a hard time believing that the Nine Divines are going to just whisk away any soul who happens to use the correct amulet/scroll/incantation. IF and only IF it were specifically related to actually worshipping the Divines could I except the fact that they'd teleport someone to safety... but only one of their own. Definitely not some chaotic adventurer who only sets foot inside a temple because a priest will exchange services for donations.

Maybe only if you actually do some worshiping/ closest thing to being a cleric we have in Skyrim.

Actually it makes a bit of sense. For forts you need easy access to any part so looping makes sense. As for ruins it is the same concept as a ruin is basically a ruined building, from the looks of most of them some kind of ruined fort lol. I in no way condone the generic caves in Oblivion but it kind of makes sense. Honestly though I think the guy did it because he knew they didn't have these spells anymore.

I dont have that problem. I have a photogenic memory so when I enter a dungeon and start taking turns I kind make a blueprint of it in my mind and where it should lead. But never the less its like an escape rope for pokemon and I wouldnt mind having it.

I dont want Spells or whatever to get me out of a situation, you either find a way out or escape or die trying.

Theres also a Game that when you die, you Magically teleport back to the spot on Full Health right in the middle of the Beast Attack.

I'd rather Almsivi, but Divine works.

Well Almisvi brought you back to a tribunal temple. There won't be too many of those in Skyrim. Maybe some other name but not almisvi, that name belongs to the tribunal

I always saved the game before entering a dungeon (both mw and oblivion) and should the need arise, I can reload and either skip the dungeon or atleast know sort of where i'm going.

I don't want to have a teleport out as such though. Doesn't work for me, after all, I shouldn't be rewarded (by getting out) for being lost.

"I don't like teleporting but I compulsively save the game to get out of dangerous situations"

hypocrite. :shakehead:

Yet to get the loot or whatever i'm after, I still have to do the dungeon.
And 99% of the time, I only load a save if I was waiting for a dungeon reset and walked in early.

I voted yes in the poll, but this is highly relevant:

Divine, not Almsivi. Vivec, Sotha Sil, and Almalexia are no longer in a position to assist weary adventurers.

Last time my character saw Sotha Sil and Almalexia, they didn't seem to be in a teleporting mood...

It might be implemented as a dragon shout, there is already an LoS teleport shout so why not? And that way it wouldn't be limited to mages.

That would be really fantastic.
I hope they would put that in the game. :D
