I wonder if Crytek or EA would probably have a limited time only discount on the DLC. Like for 1 or 2 days. I can definitely see folks purchasing it especially if it was 50% off. But I guess that might just be wishful thinking. I can say however that Steam and D2D has been pretty successful with strategies like this.

It would require a bit more than just a 50%-off

1. The ability to pay with something else than a credit card.
2. A bigger off, 75% minimum (alternative: 2 more maps).
3. Free DLC for servers.
4. A way to play the DLC-maps which doesn't cause problems for non-DLC-players (NOT kicking them)
