Hey guys,
I just came back to New Vegas after getting all the DLC now & have a few questions before I start them up. Starting with HH & DM;I know that I need high Lockpick, Speech, Science to get the most out of them, currently I'm 75 Speech, 85 Lockpick & only 45 Science. Should I wait a few more levels and beef up Science a bit before I tackle HH? My Melee/Unarmed is bad, like 20/25 or so. Would I be ok?
Also, about the Weight-limit with HH.....I'm 85 in Guns, playing on Hard/hardcoe, what weapons/ammo would you recommend I bring, I don't want to carry too much. I have Packrat Perk & 270lbs capacity.
Thanks for any insight guys.
You shouldn't need science in HH... like at all. The guns and ammo you should bring don't matter much, because you will find above-average guns for your level while in Zion. Just bring a decent rifle or pistol and enough ammo to get by long enough to gather some off of corpses. Also, I don't want to spoil the ending but the general most popular ending requires a speech sill of 90. IMPORTANT: Watch who you shoot at the beginning! apparently, it is a common mistake for people to shoot a friendly tribal, mistaking him for a hostile one. This will ruin the entire dlc. I don't want to give anything away, but I will tell you this: You will see him almost immediately after you cross the bridge.
You should definitely raise your unarmed or melee for DM. Unarmed would probably be best so you can get the most out of the bear trap fist. You will be very short on ammo and will need to rely on what you can scrounge up. You start with a decent energy weapon but have very limited ammo. You find a few guns, but they also are pretty limited on the ammo department. That is, unless you find a certain item that can unlock loads of a certain ammo type. DM isn't all about running and gunning, it's about playing smart, so skills like survival and medicine can be VERY useful. If you play this dlc on hardcoe mode, it will seem like you can die from just being outside. This isn't true. Your health degenerates to a certain point and stops. So while it doesn't tecnically kill you, it brings you pretty close to death. Because of this, medicine and healing supplies are beyond valuable. It is usually easier to just rely on survival and food items to stay alive most of the time. Finally, do not rush this dlc. It is meant to be played slow and you probably won't enjoy it if you rush.
I don't recall science playing a major part in the first two dlcs. In DM It will help you hack a few terminals that provide some back-story but you won't miss the best stuff. However, I would recommend raising it for OWB if you plan on getting it.
