DLC's better be huge

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 10:36 am

The map is so tiny they better double it with each dlc or people are going to be clawing at the walls. It's kind of ridiculous you can sprint across the world in a few minutes. Wtf took them so many years this game has no content.

I am not worried about the size or content of any SLC

i am more concerned about WHEN

pretty sick of bethesda paranoid and senseless secrecy or their trademark word SOON wich these days basicly is a political correct way of saying ( censored)

just any news on when ad why about the creationkit console mods and dlc would be welcome

why ? people are starting to wander off and forgetting about fallout 4 if it going to taje mucg longer what would be the purpose of a dlc if nobody except a few hardcoe fans is playing this game anymore

Because exactly that happened with Skyrim, which no-one plays.

Oh, actually, no... B)

The map is 1 million times better than FNV's vanilla map and I don't see how it's even possible to argue against that. My reasoning for that isn't graphics or size, it's about random encounters.

Are you kidding me? NV was huge in comparison. F4 has a city area, a swamp, the glow and a lake. There are 2 enemy bases that spawn high level npcs and 2 towns with a less than dozen people in them.

The map is actually thrice the size of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, so how is it tiny? And it is bigger than Skyrim. I don't get this complaint at all, the map is quite huge. People are not going to be clawing the walls. Did you know that Dawnguard for Skyrim released in June 2012 on Xbox 360 and August for PC. The game did fine untill then and so will Fallout 4. The patience of the gaming community today is ridiclous. What the game lacks is a few more quest, or well quest spread evenly across the map. And developing games is time consuming. Look at Skywind which is a fan project to bring Morrowind into the Skyrim Engine. They have spent 4 years already ,and will probably spend 2 more, so fans that claim they can do it better and quicker just look at that.

I take it this is your first Bethesda game? If you're bored with it, go play something else.

I don't get why so many people these days have no patience and feel entitled to what they want, when they want it.

Who cares how long it takes to sprint across the map. Seriously, who does this? Size isn't a concern when it's packed densely with content. You just have to find the content, which I doubt you have. It's a sandbox, play in it.

no not my first bethesda game certinly not i just think it is bad marketing policy keeping your customers completely in the dark and bethesda not the only ones doing this

i am not saying they have to publish everything they are doing but atleast some indications of when to expect news would go much furter than this SOON message which can mean tomorrow or in 6 months

don t get me wrong i love this game even with some of it flaws i just think we as players and paying customers deserve better than this wall od silence nor is bethesda game studio s and their Publisher the only ones guilty leaving their fans/ customers out in the cold

Playing through the modless console version of NV like I did was like getting a new tv, only to find out the only channel that comes in is C-Span and nothing else.

I always keep my expectation low. It never hurts in the long run.

Fallout 4 is my first fallout and Bethesda game.

And to be honest, I'm satisfied with how Bethesda released Fallout 4. It felt like going back to the days when games are delivered as a whole game, instead of puzzle with missing pieces. But still, I don't put high hope.

People say this map is bigger than Skyrim... but if it is, it sure as hell doesnt feel that way. I think it's a lie but whatever. The game feels small and compact. Everything feels way too close together. Skyrim felt huge because there was space to breath in between locations. In FO4, you can be fighting Supermutants on one side of the street and then run into a raider base once you turn the corner within visual distance... like how do the raiders and mutants ever stop fighting since they have an "attack anything that moves" policy?

Dont get me wrong, I highly enjoyed exploring the CW, and it felt like it took a while because I was literally in sneak mode 95% of the time, but once you explore everything, you (or atleast I) got the feeling that it just wasnt what it could have been. I know they could have made the map alot bigger or atleast scaled the worldly environment a little smaller in comparison to the world map. And being someone that actually lives in the Real World commonwealth, some of the town outside of Boston felt out of place and in the wrong locations or too close while missing other important towns that connect the others. For example, Malden is placed more North than Lexington which is inaccurate. Map seems rushed and just thrown together putting popular names in there just for authentication. Radiant quests tend to send you to the same exact locations over and over when there's plenty of other locations that could be used.

I felt the map size was a let down especially given how extremely fun exploring is in this game. I hope they double the size with DLC but I doubt that will happen. We will mostlikely get a small island or something like they did in Skyrim with solstreim(sp?) ... and some "enter dream world/fantasy" type areas that are not connected to the main map like the boring recycled areas in the Dragonborn DLC...

I get that you're exaggerating, but you cannot sprint across the map in a few minutes. Not even close. I've never timed it, but walking from Sanctuary to Warwick Homestead or some other comparable distance takes a good long while. No, it doesn't take hours and hours to do, but even just going straight there is still going to take a solid half an hour. Even walking from Sanctuary to Diamond City takes a good length of time. Hell, just walking across Spectacle Island takes a few minutes.

And it's not all about how big the physical size of the map is. What's in the map is a bigger factor to me. There is a lot more within a given sized area of the map than there ever was in Fallout 3 or NV. A huge part of the map in Fallout 3 is just completely barren. The Mojave in NV gets really repetitive and dull after a while. The Commonwealth wasteland has a ton to keep you turning in new directions, with raider/gunner/mutant camps everywhere, new urban areas all over the place, lots of little settlements scattered around the wasteland, lots of heavily guarded facilities, and so on.

All that being said, I'm sure the DLC is going to expand the map at least some. There are some areas that you can see off to the side by the Glowing Sea and farther north along the western edge that look a bit too detailed to me to be nothing more than background filler. I think some of it's going to be getting opened up.

I haven't speculated too much about DLC content, but I think one of them is likely to involve continuing through to the other side of the Glowing Sea, where there will be another big established settlement along the lines of Diamond City or Goodneighbor. There would be a whole new quest line attached to this settlement, as well as some new side quest and radiant quest opportunities.

Fastest speed run of un-modded Morrowind is something like 10 minutes or just under.

Therefore, Morrowind has NO content.

I think that's how the arguement goes anyway.

Personally, it took me three weeks of playing the game before I ever made it to Diamond City. I'd keep getting sidetracked and finding new areas to explore. A bigger map would just mean the same amount of content but spread out more. It wouldn't take you any longer to play the game, or significantly longer to move between areas really. There wouldn't be "more" of anything except more map. Like others have said, I'm usually more interested in what is in the map than how "big" it is.

What people miss on a daily basis, however, is the very simple fact that you're going to get the responses you deserve in these threads. If you want to start a thread with exaggerated hyperbole and an inflammatory tone, then you're hardly going to get a bunch of friendly responses. If you post in a thread in a rude or inflammatory manner then you can't expect any better behavior from those who choose to respond to you.

Where this becomes an issue is when things get over the line and moderators have to step in. So keep it civil and try to remember that other people will read and respond to your posts - it is up to you to decide how they will react by how you phrase your points.

I don't know the exact 'square miles' in FO4 but I do know those miles are dense. I can't walk 50 feet in any direction without encountering or finding something. The detail is just incredible. I much prefer this over having just empty miles of nothing just so you can say it's big.

In that same vain, it took me until level 40 before I made it to Quincy and the southern area. It's such a fun, dense world!

I have to agree with you. The map may seem a bit smaller but to me it is loaded with so much more to find and explore. I remember in FO3, just walking and not finding anything in between. FO4 has so much more and then Boston itself!......I still have yet to go up and down all the streets, alleyways and buildings. So much to see and explore. I Love it!

OP: Thank you so much for posting a comment from somebody who, obviously needs more in their life. The F4 map is fine and plenty large. For goodness sake, people are spending 100's of hours on this already, the last thing we need is to double or triple the size of the map. As repetitive as everything is now, I can't imagine that I would every want 3x as much of the same.

That's just disrespectful. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism. But that's just spitting in the face of the people who devote so much time and passion creating games like this. Bleh.

I'm beginning to see that there are basically two types of players that play the Fallout games. Those that are quest driven and those that like to explore. (Its funny to see that when the game has been out for 6 hours someone posts that they beat it already).

As far as playing just Quests....yes, it may seem small but for explorers like myself....Its huge and so much to do. That's what I love about the Fallout and TES games. Exploring! I remember seeing a post about someone that just wanted to get through the MQ as fast as possible.... Why? To me, that is not the Fallout universe.

It is very disappointing to see all the negativity here lately. Its a GREAT game! Beautiful and full of exciting things to do. Awesome job Bethesda!!!
