DLC better not svck

Post » Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:33 pm

I hated dead money, by for the the worst expansion for any rpg I have ever played. I may not even buy any more DLC for New Vegas, I thought it was that bad...

To me, it felt like New Vegas was one step foward and two steps back. So many things they improved, yet at the same time just failed on...If Dead money was their idea of a good first DLC, then I can't imagine what the next one will be....(Big empty does sound interesting, lets hope hope they don't [censored] that up)

Dead money was awful. It was anoying, you couldn't even use anything at your disposal to beat it such as a equipment earned up to that point, Next to nothing as far as new weapons and other content goes, not to mention an area you could not return to, and a reward that was pointless! ( More caps, like I needed that! Like any body did, SO easy to get rich in this game, had 40k caps at least going into it...)

Dead Money was intended to be a survival game, hence the armor/weapon confiscation. I think the rewards are pretty good: Holorifle+++, BAR, Police Pistols, Cosmic Knives, The highest DT light armor, and your own personal vending machine! What's not to love?
The speakers, collars, and the cloud, are supposed to make you think. It's a puzzle.

To each their own. Honestly, I think this thread's pretty damn pointless. I think we all want the DLC not to svck, but our definition of "svck" will vary.

Dead Money did exactly what Avellone abd other Obsidian devs wanted it to. They wanted to challenge u in many different ways.

I thought DM was very good.. If they could recreate the DM feeling without having a copy of it the new dlcs will be very very good.

Dead Money provide alot of great things. I hope they can make one as good as it, which IMO is a tall glass to order.

Why would u want all your main game items???? So you could bring your walking tank in there and blow through it??

DM was done close to perfect IMO I loved it.....

GREAT JOB ON DM OBSIDIAN!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is your problem then O:A should be the worst.

You couldn't use the equipment you used in the main game.
It had 5 new things:

Shock Sword
Winterized T51-b
Hei Guei
Gauss Rifle
Trench Knife

Spoiler
It did also have these items but they were simulation only and should not actually be available to players. (Although there are ways to get around it.)
Winterized combat armor
Winterized combat helmet
General Chase's overcoat
General Jingwei's uniform
Army mechanic jumpsuit
Winterized Chinese jumpsuit
Winterized Chinese commando hat

As compared to Dead Moneys

Assassin suit
Dead Money jumpsuit
Dead Money collar
Dean's Tuxedo
Father Elijah's robes
Sierra Madre armor
Sierra Madre helmet
Sierra Madre armor, reinforced
Sierra Madre helmet, reinforced
Vera's Outfit
Pre-War steak
Sierra Madre martini
Cloud Kiss
Ghost sight
Jar of cloud residue
Automatic rifle
Bear trap fist
Cosmic knife
Cosmic knife clean
Cosmic knife super-heated
Demolition charge
Gas Bomb
Holorifle
Knife spear
Knife spear clean
Police pistol
Throwing knife spear
Auto. rifle upgr. internals
Bear trap fist HD springs
Holorifle focus optics
Holorifle adv. calibration
Holorifle reinforced components
Embalming fluid
Gold bar
Sierra Madre playing card
Sierra Madre chip
Sierra Madre snowglobe

And an area you couldn't return to.

As for "annoying" I don't see how, you mean the collar and speakers?
Well in that case I could say the same about O:A.
DM and O:A both had unique design goals, DM being survival and puzzle solving while O:A had simulated bodies which disappeared.

If anything O:A should be the worst DLC for you. (Unless you haven't played it.)
Since it didn't even had any meaningful dialogue or options in quest other than: kill [censored].

Gabriel, I agree with 95% of the stuff you said, but OA did provide good overall fo story background. It gave us a look at what that war was probably like. Holotapes from men provided some good info on how they may have felt, and the ferociousness that Chinese would brinb during an attack.

You had to decide what units would be best to take with u to destroy each target. Plus it was a good change of pace DLC.

OA was not as good as DM IMO, but it was not worthless in the overall fo story.

Well I don't think it's worthless, it's my favorite DLC actually even though it's limitations to RPG I've replayed it more than any other DLC for Fallout.
Just said that if what that person thought was bad about DM and calling it the worst makes no sense since by his preference of DLC content O:A would be twice as bad.
DM also gave some good insight to Fallout lore, maybe not from a historical point like O:A but still. :)

Dead of money has been my least favorite dlc out of the FO fanchise, its a tie for mothership zeta. i jus wanted the dlc to be over as soon as started; the area was dull and not very interestin atleast til gettin to the casino. granted the story was great but story alone cant hold up a dlc. the rewards werent that good cept the halo rifle and assassin armor (i thought the BAR svcked). im hopein honest hearts is alot better content wise and gameplay wise (i dont want to be forced to play a stealth role).

Dead Money didn't svck. This thread is all about one little opinion coated with RANT. Pointless.

So, to the pointless thread, I add a pointless post.

If at some point I could have regained some or all of my equipment like in The pit I would have been happy. As for OA, at least the items where worth it, and it wasn't so anoying to complete....

yes, so when we are displeased with the game we should all say nothing! That way the developers can keep cranking out the same [censored] with no input on what people who play it think!

I made this thread to express my opinion and see the opinions of others, seems like it has a point to me...

Yea it's pretty boring 85% of the time. I think the problem was just how stretched out it was. If they found some way to break up sneaking around the streets I wouldn't have gotten so pissed off at how slow it was. I give the gameplay a 5/10, but everything else was good. I liked the story, the "feel" of the casino, the gear, and the characters. Those were the best part, too bad we couldn't interact with them more. It was the DLC's strong point.

You didn't have to, that's what the BAR and sierra madre armor was for.

Sigh, one of these threads. I don't see you making a dlc... what is your idea of a good dlc that you want the devs to make?

Do I really want to heard this?

I thought the first one was great and by the looks of the 3 screenshots and the time its taken them to make it, it should be pretty damn great.

I just finished it it up for the second time earlier today, and really enjoyed it. I'd rate it at or near the top of all the DLCs for Fallout 3 and NV, right alongside Point Lookout.

I do have to admit, it was nice getting out of that dreary red fog and back into the Mojave sunshine. :)

Also with a melee character you could wipe the floor with the ghost people.
