DLC "Exclusive"?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:09 pm

I just found out how the dlc for New Vegas will be exclusive to the Xbox360 again. Well guess what guys, you can go screw yourselves. You just guaranteed that I will not be buying the game. Don't get me wrong I am still going to rent it through gamefly, but there is no chance in hell I am buying it to only get screwed out of dlc again. And giving it to me over a year later doesn't make up for it!

I wasnt sure if I was going to buy Fallout New Vegas or Vanquish this week. I had almost decided on New Vegas, but guess who just won me over.

And realize I am pissed off that you wont let me PAY YOU for more content. Seriously how much is Microsoft buying you out for that it is worth screwing over your fans on the PS3?

I completely understand that it takes time to program for both systems, and if that is the issue as to why you are not putting out the dlc for both systems, then say so. Don't just pretend that you are completely screwing us over like you did with Fallout 3. Even if that isn't the issue, at least give your fans on the PS3 a timeframe on which they will get the dlc content, instead of letting them cross their fingers and hope for over a year....

Sorry guys, you make awesome games that I really enjoy playing, but if you are going to screw me, then I am not going to support you. End of Story.

did you even read GStaff's post ?

At depth, any counter-point your trying to make?

@Periodic: Yes a theory, but based on Real information from Pete regarding his intentions with the Pre-order packs. Yeah I could be wrong, but I prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt first.

No one has any other Actual information that would indicate we are in the same boat, and we know for Certain that GWFL is not part of the New Vegas deal - which is a Very real difference between DLC content with the two games. What other Facts do we have other than ranting and raving about what Might Be?

There's no way you'll be able to get Fallout New Vegas anywhere near launch day on gamefly.

Just a heads up.

Pretty sure I got an e-mail at about 11:00am saying it was on its way to my house. Should be here by wed or thur.

Would it be better for the entire game to be an exclusive? Exclusives are nothing new. And I am happy they at least try to release the game on all three platforms.

Oh look, I'm not angry anymore!

Thanks for that...

The sad fact is, that our voice will never be heard at Bethesda. Money speaks louder than words, and by past actions i can see a repeat of the FO3 DLC. What really gets me is, if not for us then Bethesda would not be where they are today. A developer is nothing without us, if we don’t buy games then said Publisher drops said developer and end of story. What Bethesda (should) have done is said to Microsoft "no, we are a game company for gamers. That’s the business we are in, we should be thankful to them and show our support" but no, like i said above, money speaks louder than words. Shame on you Bethesda, shame on you.

I really don't see your point. The fact that they are putting the game out on all three platforms is a given after Fallout 3, for them to not do it would be unforgivable.

I see the mods reposting this a lot, but I wonder why. Am I missing something in his wording there that actually doesn't reinforce the very complaints being made?

"All we announced is that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE"
'the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE"
"first DLC exclusive to Xbox "

Is that supposed to make any non Xbox user feel better about the announcement? /boggle

I take it to mean that the first DLC is an Xbox exclusive  (Like a "Happy Meal" toy that you won't find at Burger King)

*Perhaps it means that the second DLC will not be exclusive to X-box360.

Thank you Summer. Thats exactly what I said to the other person that said I'm patronizing.

Well that in itself isnt the thing, the thing Microsoft is paying for is rights to sole or timed exclusivity. They hope to convert more users to their systems, thus increasing thier revenue. And ehhh, Sony might have that kind of cash, but Between the two, Microsoft could probably piss money like the hoover dam does water.

@Summer- I agree, it is awesome we at least get the core game. But I think the fury here is that only one of three platforms will get any DLC soon/at all.

True, MS does have more money and are very greedy but its a competition. They have to do everything to win.

And PS3 will get DLC. Gstaff said its only the first DLC thats exclusive.

It'll probably turn out to be a "New Vegas Avatar T-Shirt" and a "New Vegas Dash Theme!"! lol

I disagree Bethesda is hearing about it and does care. I really wish they would make an official announcement about this issue instead of having Gstaff post 3 lines.

Are you really making this comparison? Really?? Give me a break.

No. He's using it as an example of how the underlying logic behind "it's all Sony's fault for not paying Bethesda for their own exclusivity agreement" leads to all sorts of negative outcomes.

Would it be better for the entire game to be an exclusive? Exclusives are nothing new. And I am happy they at least try to release the game on all three platforms.

Weeeel, from my perspective, the entire game being a PC exclusive would be a good thing. That way we wouldn't have to settle for low resolution GUIs, reduced functionality due to lack of buttons on a controller, and all the contrition necessary to get the game to run in 512 megs of shared video and system RAM.

I'd still feel kind of bad for all the 360 players and PS3 players who wouldn't get to experience NV though. Though perhaps Obsidian could port the game from the PC to the consoles later on, but that's neither here nor there.

I think there's a difference between, say, Colonel Martyr, who's a 360 player who understands the issue here and sympathizes with the non-xboxers and thus has my respect, and all the people who're are gloating like little children.

This takes me back to the time when ,out of the blue ,a release date for the PS3 F3 DLC got announced.
Then on that date nothing came out. A week later it was suddenly announced that nothing was coming out until the end of the year.

So, the second DLC will be exclusive to the PC and 3rd to the PS3.. Nah, I don't see that at all. It's all exclusive to the 360. PC will get it March 2011, PS3 will have to wait for the GOTY since putting DLC on PSN isn't technically possible.

Agree, and it doesn't make sense to me that Bethesda would release a Full DLC of game-content, quests, etc for only the 360/PC. They have not done this before with Fallout3 and with GWFL gone (and thus less control by Microsoft, not more), I really do GECKulate that this is a combination pre-order pack - and nothing more significant than that.

Don't buy the game because you don't get the First Bonus content? I'm still missing something. How about they just Never release DLC so they don't piss anyone off? Or would you still complain because theres no Bonus content?

To me it's not that big a deal. If I like the game I like and as long as one of the devs doesn't yell I hate black people I'm cool. Even then I'd probably still get it because I'm not going to punish myself for their mistake.

I would rather it be an exclusive to be honest. Then at least I wouldn't feel like I am being ignored.

Its basically them going, thanks for buying our game, but we don't really think you matter so were just going to ignore you for a while and we will get back to you sometime next year.

If Bethesda keeps up this trend it will bite them in the ass when sales for there games on the PS3 eventually drop. I wonder if it will be worth it then.
