DLC "Exclusive"?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:00 pm

Ouch. Yeah, that sounds like the first DLC will be XBox only, permanently. I hate when games do that crap.

I'm sure someone will be able to imitate that DLC on PC (I'm not talking about cracking the 360 content to illegally rebuild it 1:1, just a similar mod)

svcks to be a PS3 user tho. :(

In case people missed this:

I want everyone to be clear on two things from the release that went out.

1) All we announced is that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE. It'll be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE.
2) More details about plans for additional content will be released in the coming weeks.

Beyond that, I don't have any information to share. Again, we'll share more info in the coming weeks.

I'm betting it will be as exclusive as Fo3's DLC was.
Which is to say: not very. Eventually it'll find it's way to the other platforms.

Although I guess I should kick back with some cheese and enjoy this thread, it will at least be entertaining until the game comes out (and then consumes my soul).

Well, I heard the PS3 had some problems with some glitches on Fallout 3? I guess that's what happens when you get non-exclusive games on an inferior system. :tops:

Inferior system? Not so much we came standard with wireless in the begining and we have a litte something know as Blu-ray you guys still have DVDs, come at me brah.

Why would Microsoft pay for DLC that would be Bethesda's choice to release DLC. I don't know why everyone is getting worked up, everytime DLC has been released by Bethesda the PS3 was always delayed by a month or two. It happens every time, (Censored) about it doesn't help it actually makes the problem worse its like making a mountian out of a mole hill. Have patience heck Bethesda could make content exclusive for the 360, PC, or PS3 if they wanted too.

So us PC users can never get the first batch on the PC? Really Bethesda?

So us console users can never use the infinate amount of mods on the 360 or PS3? Really?

This is stupid that everyones freaking out about this.

People are getting this worked up over this little bit of news? A few hours ago everyone was perfectly happy about NV releasing tomorrow/friday.

It's not like it's breaking the core game. We 360 owners won't be getting it until Christmas anyway. Relax.

you know Xmas is about 9 weeks away (give or take), right? at least you'll be able to (buy) and play DLC at Xmas.

I can, I think. Think of it like this: You walk into a bar for a meal and a beer, and you find yourself a nice table near the window. You order your meal and drink and it arrives in good time, just when you're about to tuck in the owner of the bar appears and says, "Everybody sitting at these tables over here..." (gesturing away from yours) "... now have an extended menu of fantastic food and drinks." As he's saying it you see a variety of foodstuffs and beverages that you would love to have, but you can't, because you're sitting at the wrong table. <_<

lol Heh ha. For my part. I haven't even played FO:NV yet! I dunno if I'll like it! Even if I do, I fully intend to spend copious quantities of time kicking the ever living poo poo out of it, and squeezing every last drop of playability it might have before I even consider purchasing any DLC. Even if they released a DLC the day after release, I wouldn't purchase it for a good while.

But are we talking about "an extended menu with fantastic new food'n stuff" here? In this context that sounds like an expansion rather than a DLC. A DLC would be like offering a different flavored ketchup. This thing is completely out of proportion. :P

I dont understand why 360 users are posting their glee, at this point it's pretty much flame baiting by saying 'Yay I have a 360'

@Indulge- While this is true, Bethesda has the choice not to take their offer, granted it is a hole in the pocket, I would care more for customer satisfaction than 'lets turn a profit'

Mainly, because I dislike how people react to this type of issue. Primarily, the buy it 'used' (pirated) crowd. I may have an Xbox 360, but I'm going to be buying the game for my PC regardless of any DLC. I can wait, seeing as how the other game content will likely keep me busy until it comes out on all of the platforms. I'm not going to resort to a boycotting bawwww, or to no longer supporting Bethesda by getting the game used. No, I'm going to buy it and continue to support Fallout games and new RPGs in doing so.

I agree. Although I use the 360, I really would love for everyone to have this DLC. I'm not being the Yay I have a 360 type person. I always go for 'The more people that get this, the more people to talk about it with'. I don't know if they will be changing there minds however or if Sony decides to empty some money into it. I really hope they do.

Their just trolls. Don't listen to them.

I assume you don't mean me, right?

my infuriation has not subsided in the slightest.
first Fallout 3, then dead rising 2, and now this. what is microsoft thinking anyway. if they wanted people to be convinced people not to buy it for the ps3 why didnt they just announce it last month so people can cancel there pre-orders and get it for the other system.
im mad at bethesda too. how could you do this to us ps3 users again. we give you the same support and money 360 users give you. and yet you exclude us.

I don't really care if it's a timed exclusive or not. Bethesda chose to publish New Vegas for the PS3, 360 and PC. I don't think it's crazy for anyone to expect equal treatment from the company they choose to support. And that's the whole point. It's our money and if we don't feel supported in turn by Bethesda, then what's to stop us from deciding to remove our support from them as well? It's a give and take, you can't expect PS3 users to gladly be treated worse than another install base on the basis of corporate greed and then say we're silly for not throwing our money to Bethesda with a happy heart.

it's a bit ridiculous though - you're complaining you can't play some DLC which hasn't even been released yet on a game that hasn't even been released yet. Excuse me, but WTF?

Is this what it's like in the mens dressing room before a big football game? Is this PRT? (Pre-Release tension?) :whistling:

Stop calling folks trolls folks or you will be warned.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.

If you believe someone is trolling, report it and don't call them names.

Wow, that was probably the fastest I've ever seen a thread reach it's post limit. I just stepped away for a bit, to bake some turtle bread, and by the time I come back it's locked.

Hmm, since I'm getting it for the 360, I'm not to broken up about it, if it IS true, but I do hope PS3 users won't have to wait too long for the DLC.

You should have seen the threads the night in June of '08, the night that they were expected to released the teaser video for FO3 ~and then they didn't  (Not til the next day).
__________________________________________________
As for DLC being exclusive... Its news to me.
This really doesn't affect me one way or the other. I didn't buy any DLC for FO3 until a few months ago ~but had the game from November '08
(and honestly, I've still yet to actually play any of them).

My guess is that the plan is the same for FO:NV as FO3. Just follow the events of the FO3 releases, it will likely follow the same pattern.

Considering this happened to fallout 3, NV, and MW2 which were all big releases, I'm sure it gets tiring.

I've got no problem with the 360, the games, or the people that play it. It still seems very unfair for people with a PS3. I'm hardly a rich man. I broke my back to buy a PS3 and I certainly cannot afford a 360. Not right now anyway.

We're all fans here. But once again we're getting shafted.
