DLC or Expansion?

Post » Wed Jul 07, 2010 8:18 pm

Do you want dlc like the pit, mothership zeta or expansions like shivering isles and bloodmoon for skyrim? I hope they do expansions instead of dlc even tho dlc are made faster and cheaper. The short dlc fits the fallout games more but elder scrolls games needs real expansion like bloodmoon and shivering isles.

I usually don't buy DLCs, but wait for bigger packs that contains a lot of DLCs
But I buy expansion packs, often

They already stated that there will be many smaller DLC's like Fallout 3.

1.Depends on what the down load is for.

2.They both have there pro's and con's.

3.I dont really care. I like them both.

Expansions are by far what I prefer. I want something to explore... and that doesn't mean follow a linear quest through a new area... that means freely roam through a new region added to the game.

Please. Stop making threads like this. The game itself is not even out yet. You guys ever hear the phrase "jumping the gun"?

Really? When and where was this stated? Can you give a link? I'm pretty sure all they've said is "we'll talk about DLC's once we're done with the main game". Also, what's with you and the "/thread" thing? In case you haven't noticed, that doesn't quite work. Just saying.

Both.

I like to see huge expansion packs that add a bigass place to explore. But I also like smaller DLC that adds, maybe some weapons/armor and/or a home.

Actually, they tend to start developing DLCs/expansions a few months before the game releases (like they did with Operation Anchorage & the Pitt), so now would be an appropriate time to discuss this, because they might start developing DLC in a couple months.

DLC's svck. If im going to spend my money, I'd like more than 30 minutes worth of content.
Shivering Isles was great, it added a ton of content that you could explore for a long time, same for bloodmoon.

Expansions aren't that expensive. $30? How much were those fallout DLC's? $10-$15? How much content did they provide?
Honestly I think DLC's are an excuse to milk more money out of less content. Thats why I think Starcraft 2 is providing each campaign in its own expansion, why buy the game once when you can spend twice as much...

I don't mind dlc if it's to tie up loose ends with some interesting characters, F:NV seems to be doing this well so far.

Spoiler for those who aren't aware

Spoiler
The two current dlc's involve two characters mentioned with great emotion by their original factions, Father Elijah and the Burning Man aka Joshua Graham

The Shivering Isles and Night of the Nine were great expansions. I don't want Bethesda to waste their time on creating horse armor when they could be working on an expansion.

I haven't heard this, but if you think about it, the smaller DLCs make way more money for roughly the same or even less content, and they are probably more interesting to make, with more diverse environments and whatnot.

I don't really care which they go for, I just like more content.

While I like both types of added content, I'd really like another massive expansion like SI. I spent nearly as much time in the Isles as I did in Cyrodil.

By the time I have done every single thing in the base game, the bundle edition with all content will probably be out for me to jump into.

I've never bought DLC and I don't plan to. The amount of content has never justified the price for me.

Expansion. I'd rather have one big expansion and a couple DLCs than a ton of DLCs. Honestly, only Knights of the Nine and Mehrunes Razor were really the only official plugins worth getting. Shivering Isles topped them all combined.

Granted, they were all good. Fighters Stronghold was a great castle, Frostcrag Spire was really interesting, Vile Lair was a nice hideout and fixed the vampirism cure problems, The Orrery is one of the prettiest places in the game, and I even liked Horse Armor, as I use horses frequently and they look badass with armor.

Expansions. DLC simply offers too little for me to even consider unless it's something truly extraordinary and even then the price would need to be right. Give me expansions like Bloodmoon and Shivering Isles. I wouldn't download something like the horse armor even if i got it free. And no i am not joking, i have gotten plenty of free DLC i never bothered to download.

If they're gonna make another horse armor DLC the only way I'm gonna download it is if it has Daedric horse armor. :mohawk:

Expansion definitely.

Although it seems Bethesda aren't too keen on it. Takes too much time for the amount of money they get. Still hope they'll change their mind. Some KotN-like DLCs could no way beat a full blown expansion imo.

Please Bethesda, aim for an expansion, or at least new, really big and diverse areas for us to explore.

I don't care much for DLC but I love expansions. What are the chances of there being an expansion, they seem to be going the way of the dodo.
