@MatthewDeverill The Retailiation Pack DLC will cost $9.99 (PS3) or 800 MSP (360).

He didn't mention PC cost. I think it will be free.

Microsoft doesn't allow Valve to give free DLC on xbox live. Not Valve's choice.

If it's not free, I'm not paying. I'm going to wait for mods instead and just play on some modded maps.

if its not free, im not buying it.
dont want to spend more money to get hackers in my games
and THAT's what happens when you console-port a game and dont add a single anti-cheat software (pnkbuster for example)

CoD:WaW had three free map pack for the pc, while the consoles had to pay. What they did was have a sponsor for the map pack, and showed a little ad/logo in the corner of the map loading screens. Granted, we did get them a lot later than the consoles..

I'm not planning on buying this dlc. 10€ for 4 maps is bad enough, (see stuff like the Secret Armory dlc for Borderlands for something that's worth it's price.) but Crysis2mp is not even in a state where it 'deserves' any new maps, and least of all even more money for those maps. Patch the game properly, and then release the new maps as a thank you for sticking with the game/boost to the community. Those maps were probably done long before launch anyway.

the times where dlcs were free are over. That's a fact. The only dlcs that are free, are that ones, that were cut out of the original game/were supposed to be in the game on release date, but were cut out for some reasons.

Nah, not really. It depends on the company. Look at Valve. Smaller indie-type games often also release free dlc.

EA makes profit from publishing DLC

you see ea is the Publisher of Crysis games, they get a share of each Crysis 2 game sold, the rest goes to Crytek/Steam/Microsoft/Sony

by releasing DLC's. they get extra money

Brink (SplasDamage & Bethesda) will give a free DLC to their costumers as apologize by the multiple bugs the game has.

Learn from them, CrEATek.

Wrong.

As other posters have said, look at Valve and their attitude towards post-release support and free content with all their games.

Creative Assembly have just released 4 free maps for Total War Shogun 2 along with DX11 support and a collossal list of bug fixes. Crytek should take a leaf out of CA's book.

Tripwire Interactive have released a lot of free content including weapons and maps for Killing Floor.

Relic have released multiple maps and The Last Stand game mode for the Dawn of War 2 series.

They're just a few examples of free DLC from a quick glance at my Steam games list.

CDProjekt is going to give FREE all his DLC for The Witcher 2, too.

Some developers value more his comercial image than 10 dirty dollars, and some others not.
Of course, I'll recommend my friends always games from Valve, DICE, CdProjekt, Creative Assembly, etc, because I'm satisfied with them.
And although Crysis 2 wasn't a bad game I won't recommend anyone Crytek's future games by this matter.

"Bread for today, hunger for tomorrow", it's the CrEAtek commercial strategy.
