DLC gorging

Post » Thu Mar 24, 2016 10:33 pm

This is a non-spoiler post for general discussion.

I played about an hour of Automatron before bed last night,

yet on waking I can already see posts from folk claiming to have finished.

I'm now reluctant to visit the forum at all in case some muppet decides to debate the DLC plot and ending without spoilers.

What gives?

There's no achievement for having rushed through a DLC to completion the second it releases.

DLC doesn't drop every day, why blow it in an impatient frenzy?

There's no need to instantly rush from quest marker to quest marker is there?

Sure people can play the way they want to play,

but it seems a pretty unsatisfying approach to me

1. The urge to share, knowing some of us haven't got it yet. Because they care. I used to do this for some Japanese games that haven't been translated to English.

or

2. Trophy hunting. It's their digital D enlargement. It's their pride.

or

3. Finish it just for the heck of it because you bought it. Like my friend did. Still wondering why he bought a game he knew he couldn't enjoy.. He didn't even last long in Fallout 3.

Each to there own.

I walk everywhere so went to the starting point, couldn't stand the voice and noise of the new robot companion and escorted it to a nearby settlement and put it on guard duty.

Spoiler
I went walking again to the next spot but there is a new breed of Raiders with robot support attacking me on the way.

Consequently i have to keep returning to offload the new loot and see what the new armour type looks like on the settlers.

So far i'm not a fan of the new armour that I have seen.

It might take me a while to get through the story line.

Some people rush through as fast as possible, missing everything along the way and then like to complain that there's not enough content. Honesty I think they like to complain more than they like to play the game. The complaining is their reward, playing the game is their grind so they can get to the endgame...complain.

Posting spoilers in the main forum is against the rules. Just report anyone who does it. Thankfully I know automatron is not centered around its storyline but when Farharbour comes out, I hope mods will be patrolling enough to nip any spoilers before they do serious damage.

The DLC is all about adding robots modding and has no real storyline.

People may accidentally give spoilers. But the story for this DLC is so short, you can't but help going through it quickly. The story is also terribly generic so they aren't really spoiling anything. I'm as causal as they come for players and it took me a couple of hours to go through, and that was with the main fight being glitched out and me having to reload 6 times.

Your probably imagining more story through leaked information than is actually in the DLC. Seriously my post and yours are longer than the DLC quest.

Also when I want to avoid spoilers I play the game and don't check the forums. I guess it's all a point of view thing. For me if your worried about spoilers you wouldn't be on the forums. And if you truly don't want spoilers you would avoid the postings about it. Other posters also flag something if it is a spoiler. So unless your reading the forums more than your playing the game, it seems pretty difficult to find spoilers.

Even without rushing I was done in 3-4 hours. I was able to visit all of the locations in the DLC, explore and read all of the terminals, etc. and build multiple robots and reload multiple times because of a bug at the end.

The DLC was rather short IMO compared to other similarly priced DLC, but it was better than Hearthfire, Anchorage and Mothership Zeta.
