DLC Hooks (Spoilers)

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 8:52 am

Is it just me or does anybody else see potential hooks for DLC in these?
  • When Hermaeus Mora proclaims you his champion and you refuse, he says that he will be in your mind, and that despite your struggling, you will fulfil his plans, ending with an ominous "Let's work wonders together...". As a plus, his quest is necessary to get the Elder Scroll and to discover the coolest dungeon in the game, suggesting to me that the devs really want you to do that quest.
  • The talk in the in-game books about Falmer planning to invade the surface.
  • The College of Winterhold's mysteries about the Great Collapse, the Augur of Dunlain and the Eye of Magnus. You pretty much have to join the college unless you are lucky or if you look up Septimus Signus's location if you want to progress, suggesting to me the devs really want you to do that quest.
  • When you finish Peryite's quest, he says "Perhaps we will meet again, afterwards...", suggesting to me that you will work with him in the future.
  • The conspicuous absence of Jyggalag.
I think I'm just being paranoid in this case. But what are your opinions?

lots of these are possible. i have another:
"You have won a mighty victory. Sahrot krongrah (Mighty conquerment) - one that will echo through all the ages of this world for those who have eyes to see.
Savor your triumph, Dovahkiin. This is not the last of what you will write upon the currents of Time."
obviously, something big is going to happen
also, i remember something about you being the scribe of the next Elder Scroll. (... elder scroll, for you shall be it's scribe). dunno who says it.

I think all the Daedric princes say they want to work with you again.

Oblivion had a whole bunch of stuff that could've potentially been tied to DLC/expansions/sequels too, but they ended up not. I wouldn't look too deep into it, as DLC and expansions are usually their own thing and not derived directly from in-game sources (Tribunal, Bloodmoon, Knights of the Nine, Shivering Isle.. all pretty much came out of left field for their respective games).

It was Martin at the end of Oblivion's MQ. And you did write a scroll in Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls immutably record events that happen, while showing an uncertain future, so you "wrote" the scroll that records Alduin's return by going through Skyrim's MQ.

Those quotes are basically TES's fancy way of saying "To Be Continued".

thanks. talthough the partarnaax quote "Savor your triumph, Dovahkiin. This is not the last of what you will write upon the currents of Time."
seems to hint that something big is coming, wether or not we get to platy through it or not

I think the falmer invasion bit is the sort of thing that would only show up in a historical timeline between games. Sort of like how Bethesda randomly said, "btw, Vvardenfell blows up during the time gap between TESes 4 and 5. LOL"

What about the fact that Goldbrand, a weapon made by dragons of the north and bestowed upon their champion, wasn't present in the game? I could see a KotN/Tribunal-type mini-expansion where you find/repair/forge Goldbrand.

I like to think that these hints at future dlcs are actually just ideas to put into the minds of modders, Morrowind had a ton of those that unfortunately got overlooked by the community of modders :\

I think I'd be open to a non-expansion type DLC that would add more Daedric Prince quests, maybe just under faction length for each one (as long as we're dreaming).
