DLC ideas (new outfits for characters to wear)

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 10:17 am

I have some character customization ideas I'd like to suggest:

1. Doom Marine armor: No, not the GameStop pre-order bonus, which was just a t-shirt that just looks like Doom armor. I mean the actual armor, including the pants, body armor and helmet. This should be for BOTH Security and Resistance, however, each faction should get it's own set of colors so we can tell which faction it's user is on.

2. Brotherhood of Steel Power Armor: From Fallout 3 (Security).

3. Brotherhood Outcast Power Armor: From Fallout 3 (Resistance).

4. MJOLNIR Mk. VI Armor (Xbox 360-exclusive): From Halo. PURELY COSMETIC, meaning no energy shields (Security).

5. Helghast Armor (PS3-exclusive): From Kllzone. Also cosmetic (Resistance).

I have no ideas for PC-exclusive content, because I don't play FPS's on the PC so I don't know what franchises they have exclusive.

Actually, I would be in favor of switching the Outcast and BoS armor, in terms of who gets it.

Remember- the Outcasts were kicked out of the Eastern BoS... for saying "Screw you Lyons, we've been sent here to secure TECH, not babysit locals!" Basically, the eastern BoS went rogue and the Outcasts are still following the original ideas of the BoS.

And the Doom marine armor should probably be a bit more ramshackle/worn for Resistance than for Security, since what I've read about them states they're basically using cast off/refurbished equipment, not the brand new stuff.

At any rate, I don't think DLC equipment should be from other games, since online play is the main draw of Brink, and defantly not Killzone/Halo since neither one had Bethesda or the creators of Brink on staff (to the best of my knowledge.) Remember- the Armor DLC between Mass Effect, Dead Space, and Dragon Age are all done mostly because EA owns the lot of 'em. You'll run into liscencing issues if you throw those two games in.

The following ideas don't have to be the actual gear but maybe something simular...

Resistance- Leather face (movie Texas Chain Saw), Ghost face killer ( movie Scream), Chucky (movie Childs Play), the doll in the "saw" movies, a scarecrow mask, dirty paper bag mask, burlap potato sack masks...

Security- Storm trooper outfits (Star Wars), Rambo bandanas, dike Tracy look alikes, Tron outfits (movie TRON and/or jogging suits, Universal Soldiers outfits from the movie Universal Soldier.

Well if you want platform exclusives, they're going to have to do a PS3-exclusive Sackboy costume. Because seriously, who DOESN'T want to be Sackboy?

What's wrong with DLC gear from other games? Not only did they do it with pre-order bonuses (remember, ZeniMax owns Bethesda and they bought id Software, thus explaining why Doom and Fallout stuff are already in Brink, but also, the fact that online play is the main draw of Brink doesn't mean we can't have certain gear as DLC. DLC can be played anywhere, just as the pre-order gear can and the normally available stuff can.

and defantly not Killzone/Halo since neither one had Bethesda or the creators of Brink on staff (to the best of my knowledge.) Remember- the Armor DLC between Mass Effect, Dead Space, and Dragon Age are all done mostly because EA owns the lot of 'em. You'll run into liscencing issues if you throw those two games in.

Bethesda/Splash would get permission for the Halo and Killzone stuff, you know. You think Netherealm Studios just added Kratos from God of War into their Mortal Kombat reboot without asking Sony first? Yes, of course permissions would have to be obtained, that's how it works. The fact that Bethesda would have to ask Microsoft and 343 Industries to add Halo equipment into the 360 Brink and Sony to add Helghast armor into the PS3 Brink should have went without saying.

Tecmo asked Bungie (who then-made Halo) if they could add a Spartan into their Dead or Alive 4, and in return Bungie added Hayabusa armor and katana (based on Ryu Hayabusa from Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden) into Halo 3. Also, Konami and Sega both gave Nintendo permission to add Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog as playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's an uncommon, but not unheard off situation when stuff from one company crosses over into another company's game.

You make good points.

But there should NOT be platform-exclusive DLCs. Look at the controversy when the first DLCs were anounced for New Vegas.

People were mad, upset, cursing Microsoft and Bethesda's name, only becase the X-box would get the DLCs earlier than anyone else. The PS3 and PC would get the DLC, they just wouldn't get it when those who had it on the 360 get it. If people got that upset because they would get the DLCs 6 months down the road, imagine how upset they would be if they can't get 2/3rd of available content simply for playing on their favorite platform.

not really DLC clothing, but i would like to see an option added that lets us switch from first person to a third person perspective like in fallout, that lets us see our charactars.
a game with wide customization is kinda going to waste becuase you barely see your person in full.

more suites like Anger or the g would be good for resistance
more suites like the unit would be good for security

another reason the third person would be good is the SMART system, we could see what kick A** things we are doing

hope OUR IDEAS GET NOTICED

You should have pre-ordered from Amazon or Direct2Drive then if you wanted that.

I pre-ordered this game solely for the Fallout Themed bonuses.
I wanted the game, but seeing that made me actually pre-order it instead of buying it used at a gamestop in a month or so after release.
I think certain clothing/bonuses give others a reason to step out of their comfort zone and into other games.
I also think it is a good way to represent what type of gamer you are.
I also think that it does svck when people play the game like who they are dressed as. I see the point that this game is severely different from some of the other games out there and it needs to keep its fresh feel to it.

Mostly, I agree with generic clothes that may resemble other popular games.
Plus the different gun skins don't matter for anything since they barely make a difference. Same with some of the clothes.
