DLC quesions SPOILERS

Post » Mon Jun 24, 2013 6:56 pm

So this weekend I started the DLC's. Saturday I finished DM and started HH.

Some questions on DM.

1) What other endings are there in DM? I really can't see me making too many other choices. I was nice to Christine so I guess I could be mean to her, but really in the end it's just use the turrets to kill the old man and run right?

2) I was able to grab one gold brick. One. Is there any way to carry out a bunch and still be able to run full speed to get out of there before it all blows? One was enough I guess I bought some new guns and ammo with it. The main treasure I got out of there with was about 200 Simpacks (that I made in those machines).

3) Ok walking out with my loot and then adding my old gear put me way over encumbered. I sold what I could at Camp Hope and then walked very slowly to my hotel room in Novac. Then it was a couple quick trips to Gun Runners to sell off the loot. Is there a way around this encumbered state coming out of there?

4) Not sure what to do with the two Vera dresses I have. Cass looks ok in it, but it's not practical of course. I can't give it to Veronica because I told her when I first met her that the BoS were criminals to the NCR (aren't they) so she won't talk to me anymore, let alone be a companion.

About HH. I'm to the point where Daniel has given me a laundry list of things to do and I got some native with a bear claw following me. Burned man talk to me on the way out but that's were I've stopped for now.

1) When I first entered this place and finished the first fight I crossed the bridge and was being shot. I sniped the guy shooting me and then saw another guy standing behind him and sniped him also. As soon as I did I got a message that some quest failed so I figured the guy behind him must have been important (Follows-Chalk). I reloaded and didn't kill him, though this time he made it more obvious I wasn't supposed to kill him as he attacked the guy shooting me. So, what would have happened to my choices if I had left him dead?

2) When exploring the caves around Sorrows camp I kept finding White Legs in them? Why are these guys in the caves right here around the Sorrows? That's like having the enemy living in one of the bedrooms of your house? Honestly I didn't expect hostiles to be in any of them. What's up with that?

Thanks.

It is possible to side with Elijah, and the Cloud takes over the whole Mojave. I've never done it myself, so i don't know the details. Also every companion can die or survive.

Apart from cheating, no. Only what your weight limit can allow. But the real treasure of the Madre is Pre-War Money  In the casino you can exchange chips to Pre-War Money, that is worth a lot more than what you can buy with the chips.

Not really, no. I minimise my equipment when going to start it, but it's always a slow walk away from there.

Everyone would have been hostile, you'd had skipped the whole DLC, practically.

Perhaps scouts or preparing a surprise attack? It's never explained what they are doing there.

I take it that's a bad ending. Do they ever explain what the red cloud is? I hacked every terminal I found and read all the notes about the leak and the suits and the poor quality building materials, etc. Not nothing really about what the cloud is.

I must say the story was very interesting. Whoever wrote all of that, well done (poor Vera). The invincible holos made for some new play styles also, though I prefer just shooting things.

In regards to the gold bars, it is actually possible to get them all, though not by running. Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CTMbSQwsaV4#t=6s

It took me a while to acomplish, but I was finally able to do it on my last playthrough of Dead Money. It was a pain to do, but it sure was worth it.

I did want to know that I had to use a PC cheat in one spot. I set off the light show and was trying to get back to the hotel. I dropped down into this small square and tried the gate out (the marker was pointing to it). The gate was blocked and there was a latter to get back out and up on the ledge above, only the ladder didn't work and the gas in the square would kill me. The problem was I quicksaved in the square, so every time I respawned it was there, trapped in the square with the poison gas. I finally had to cheat to get out since my last auto save was hours ago. Seriously though it took me about an hour to get to the hotel after the fireworks. The markers on the map pointed to blocked gates and the one that was a deathtrap. Most annoying thing I've come across in the game so far.

Yes, there is a key to that gate, but it's hidden quite well in Salida del Sol (IIRC). The map markers can lead to poor places and sometimes point to completely non-sensical locations when several doors are in the way.

I also did DM this weekend. There's a skeleton with a key just to the left of the gate. I ended up fighting my way out because I didn't want to get turned around trying to flee the scene. The autorifle came in pretty handy.

About the gold bars, not being able to carry them all out is kind of the whole point behind the story. "Let go" or you'll die in here. :)

Apparently, 'Dead Money gold bars' is one of the most common queries on Youtube regarding the DLC. There does seem to be a way without glitching that involves stealth boys, but this one seems the easiest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2fFsGNcZc0.

But as mentioned above, the real treasure is all the pre-way money you can get in the area. It's all weightless and you can convert it into weightless chips too
