DLC SIDE NOTE

Post » Sat Jun 01, 2013 8:20 am

i choose not to add this to DLC The Lost Island Map Pack thread because:
A. im looking for people to comment on my points of views below.
B. i would really like the development team(not just 1 vet) to answer and/or express their point of view addressing my concerns below.

DLC The Lost Island Map Pack
this looks tight, but im disappointed the in the negativity in the community.i remember just a couple of months there where many topics/threads about dlc's and what every1 wanted to see, although everyone has appropriate concerns.

1. i would really like to get this.

2. i've never spent more then $10 on a dlc this size.development team should make a couple $$ for the work that they put into it so i don't think it should be free. do you( the community) work for free? but the game still has many disapproval's with bug and what not. people don't buy games just for graphics.

3. its a small community and it will just break it up more. (not cool)

4. can crytek and ea do a better marketing job to bring more ppl?

5. where's the balancing point between us(the community) and crytek/ea for the way the game functions?

6. can we ( community and crytek/ea) meet in the middle for dlc cost and what we (the community) expect from the dlc for that cost?

these are the things that first come to my mind when i see release new for a c3 dlc.

im not looking for a bunch of shout out that wonder all over the place. im looking for input on these concerns so:
plz quote specific concern when leaving a reply in this topic.
if you want me to add a concern to the list to be replied on: dm me i'll be happy to add it in.

I agree, I don't see why so many people are expecting this to be free.

Many people pay 60€ for what they was expecting to be Crysis3 and reveal of beeing Crysis 2.5 . Its normal that now they are not happy. A free DLC was giving the chance to Crytek/Ea to redeem on the mistakes they made (C2+C3 bugs and problems ) versus their customers and at the same time to call new customers. I , personaly , agree that is not economicaly possible to give a free DLC and the work have his costs but need to consider that here in Italy the Crysis3 Hunter Edition cost now 29,99€ (i see it yesterday at 16,00 at MediaWorld). So the game cost around 30€ and DLC cost more or less 15€ , haw many will buy it? Probably i will ,to suport the dev's , not becouse it worth the money. All my friends i speack with about say they will not buy the DLC.

The game still doesn't even work 75% of the time. They are lucky I even play this game.

the dlc looks awesome, there is no denying that

the problem is that this game is still very broken
id much rather pay $15 for a finished/balanced version of crysis 3.

the reason i dont even care for the dlc is because no one is going to be playing it.
look at the dlcs for crysis 2, i never seen a US server put these maps into rotation. their were servers that would change to dlc if requested.

the community is already on the verge of death and adding dlc that only a few are playing is going to split the community even more.

If the player base was like 10k individual people playing online instead of 500-1500, I would buy it. I still might buy it. It looks cool and a new way to play sounds fun. But there is the problem. How would I enjoy my $15 purchase if NO ONE is playing it? I'm not poor, but I'm not blowing money on something I can't enjoy.

2. Plenty of business owners work for free or even at a loss when their customers are not satisfied or have legitimate gripes with the product/service. They do so because they know that the bad word of mouth and dissatisfied customers will hurt future business. It's better for someone to say "they did a bad job the first time, but at least they fixed the problem" instead of "they did a bad job the first time and then wanted to charge me more".

Yes, it's an additional product for the game, but with the lackluster support so far (personally I have had very few issues with the game, but others have found it at times completely unplayable); not to mention the low player count meaning anyone that does buy the dlc is taking a risk of getting a product they can't even enjoy Crytek and EA really need to reconsider their decision on how much they are charging. They should be trying to draw people BACK to the game, not push more people away. Having a $10 or less dlc is way more manageable and will probably bank them more sales in return that would offset the $5 or more difference in price.

Let's look at what people go for buying Crysis 3 (assuming $60 price):
1) Single player campaign
2) Multiplayer
-12 maps
-33 weapons
-~9 game modes

All for $60. So that is 4x as much as the dlc. Yes it's an entire game, but it is required to buy to play the game.

For the dlc to be on-par with this, it'd need 3 maps: got that covered since it has 4. 8 weapons: really short here, there are only 2 new weapons. And 2 game modes which it meets as well. So it meets or exceeds on 2 of the 3 instances, hence why I advocated for $10 price tag.

And this isn't even going into the other things the full game offers for a $60 price tag that the $15 dlc does not add to. Suit modules, the limited vehicle use, ect.

Basically if you're looking at what you get for Crysis 3 at full price it's a steal compared to what you're getting with a $15 dlc. $15 for this dlc is a rip-off... Sorry to say because I wish I could talk myself into buying it. I'll wait to see what everyone who does get it thinks of it before I take the plunge.
