DLC: small but plentiful or large but few?

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2016 4:56 pm

Two larger dlc's. I don't think that they'll be making smaller dlc's with modding coming to consoles. I also don't like the 10 dollar dlc's of fallout 3/nv as they don't seem as fleshed out and don't add any content i'd want to come back to. I would actually go back to solstiem and the isles for alchemy ingredients, armor, or just to see a different type of scenery.

I imagine they will use skyrim as a dlc model. Two "expansion" type dlc, and one smaller one that caters to fans (hearthfire).

I hope it's like Skyrim, 2 big content DLCs and 1 small feature DLC. I just hope the new areas make the world bigger rather than being in another dimension like with Anchorage or Dawnguard

I'll give you that Zeta was monotonous, and many had problems with how it approached lore.
But the rest were pretty decent. IMO, 4/5 were better than many DLCs we see in other games.

I'm hoping for 3 solid larger DLC this time around, with maybe two that are basically extra quests. Like some Nick Valentine noir types of detective cases, where they aren't creating any new assets or areas. Just some extra story type content.

i can verify that ps4 got a good bump in draw ahead and textures.

they also made the snap better for some things but now the clipped snaps of some objects don't work like they used to. there's some other things as well, but that's a different thread.

only bethesda will fix one thing while breaking another! only bethesda can produce a game like this though. huzzah!

i just hope with any dlc's, expansions, updates or sequels that they give us more different materials to build with and the ability to remove everything from the landscape. or at least the detritus in the middle of houses and areas. most of it seems like good building materials, why can't i use it beth? WHY?!??

ehhhem, anyway. i can see them doin 4 or more pretty good sized dlc's now that they have the added feature's of settlements. a couple new areas for dungeon diving, new places/materials to build with, possibly new factions or story twists? they have options, for sure.

use them wisely beth, you are our only hope! well,,, you and modders! ??

you should have a choice for alot of big one's!

If it's free updates, a bunch of little but meaningful additions are my cup of tea, keeps me involved.

For paid dlc, a few big ones are nicer on the wallet.

Ideally I'd prefer the DLC schedule that New Vegas and 3 had; which offered variety and enough substance if one longed for it.

Though out of the choices provided, make both of them big and bulging

What I like in Dlcs is new equipment, and new areas to explore.

While I would love to see three our four Dragonborn/Dawnguard sized DLC, the very fact that they are selling season passes suggests we shouldn't expect anything more than we got for Skyrim for that thirty dollar price tag. But then, maybe we will. This is their first time doing the season pass thing so maybe they should over-do it the first time around to create confidence in the next games season pass. They leave everybody feeling burned and they won't sell any passes for the next game.

As to large vs small, I want DLC like the two previously mentioned ones. Smaller DLC might be entertaining, but they also tend to be one off and done affairs. Both Dragonborn and Dawnguard expanded the game world beyond their actual quest content. I had reason to visit Solstheim both before and after the Dragonborn quest ... it became a new part of the game world. Revisiting the Soul Cairn (soul gems!), not to mention Fort Dawnguard and the Aetherium side quest also gave Dawnguard utility beyond it's main questline.

While I enjoyed DLC like The Pitt and Point Lookout, I never had any reason to return once it was over. Zeta and Anchorage added nothing substantial to the game world. Broken Steel at least tried.

Skyrim's total DLC added up to $45 - a $30 season pass would have been a solid deal for that. To my knowledge, wasn't that about the same as the total cost of Fallout 3's and New Vegas's DLCs? They just had four/five $10-15 DLCs, instead of two $20 DLCs and a $5 DLC.

the season pass isn't a dlc, it's a combo pack for all the dlc's. So realistically if that thing is accurate there's only 3 expansions coming not 4
