DLC too hard to purchase, too few players, should be free

I spent many hours trying to purchase the Crysis2 DLC packs from within the game and kept getting a message that I had no payment options attached to my account, even though I did have a credit card attached to gamesas account. I spent many hours trying to fix it without creating a new account and losing all my progress, my stats and my unlocks. In the end, I gave in, as nothing I tried worked, and created a new gamesas account, logged into the game with my new account and downloading the DLC worked. But I had to start over since all my progress from my previous profile was gone.

That wouldn't be so bad if I could find people playing any of the DLC maps. I am now unemployed, so I have plenty of time to play this game and you cannot say that I have not tried every hour of the day, every day over the last few weeks looking for DLC Servers that were not empty.

I even hopped onto one of the empty servers hoping people would join in. A couple of times I had one person join, but the minimum player base is four, so the game will not begin until 2 more join. The two of us fooled around for about a half hour and finally gave up since no one else joined the game.

I have spent 8 hours on the forums reading many, many problems by others who are having issues either purchasing the DLC, or having issues downloading the DLC after purchase.

With all the problematic issues many people are having while attempting to purchase the DLC, most people will simply give up trying to purchase the DLC. People want a trouble free procedure when making any purchase. The slightest bump in the purchase process online, will scare most people off. That is why very few people have purchased the DLC, because the purchase process is not bug free.

I have not even mentioned the fact that Crytek will only allow us to purchase the DLC using a Credit Card. There should be more payment options if they want us to pay for the DLC. Also, we should be able to purchase the DLC from an outside source, we should not have to purchase the DLC from within the game. This all limits the sales of the DLC.

At this point I feel that I paid for a product that I cannot play and request that Crytek release the DLC packs to the community for free. That way the DLC can be put into the map rotation on every server and then people will start playing them. I'm a rare person who will spend 8 hours trying to purchase the DLC because I love this game and I do not want it to fail. I want the multiplayer community to be a success. That is why I am requesting Crytek to release the DLC for free to help save the multiplayer community for Crysis 2.

Releasing the DLC for free will have a positive effect on the community by giving players more maps to play. People who may have stopped playing Crysis 2 may come back to try out the new free maps. But also, there are people who may purchase crysis 2 when they find out that there are two DLC included for free. So you may not make money on the DLC, you'll make money on more people purchasing the game.

Even though I paid for both DLC packs, I would rather you release them to everyone for free so that we could play them rather than have them be a paid product and no one play them.

You're a nice person, simply good ideas that would actually benefit everyone including Crytek and EA long term. I don't think Crytek and EA are as nice though lol. Whoever is in charge of these decisions probably wouldn't even give thought to it, Crytek mostly just have a whole cold business front about them now.

The only other problem would be the other players who have already bought the DLC, but unlike you, would rage at it being released for free lol, which is kinda understandable, so I wonder what could be done in a perfect world to bring the DLC's to everyone while compensating the original purchasers...

Thank you for your kind words. I only hope that someone from Crytek relays these ideas to someone who makes the decisions. I don't expect anything will actually change, but we may be surprised. I think that the idea of free dlc (for the reasons I gave above) only makes good business since. Hopefully someone who can make decisions at Crytek will agree.

very good read (for a change on here) with some good ideas, and i totally agree with all your points raised.
ive got both dlc's and im lucky if ive had 10 game due to never finding anyone on the servers. as we are a worldwide community when im on i suppose america is sleeping.
now the editor is out i cant see many more players buying the dlc's even if they add the option of paypal as its too little too late.
they should be released for free now and refund or even give us a credit note to get crysis 3 free so they dont have to pay money back.

anyway you can join our worldwide dlc group here > https://secure.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=33528
