DLC Xbox first... Why?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 1:49 pm

So i read on many forums that gamesas has confirmed that xbox will get DLC 1 month earlier then pc and ps3. I am an Xbox user so this is in my favor, but most of my friends run PC or PS3 and i kind of find it unfair that i get to play new DLC an entire month before anyone else. the only good part about this is that PS3 & PC will get it bug free... :woot:

Does anyone know why we are getting it a month before anyone else? or how gamesas thought this would be at all fair? Personally i like enjoying stuff at the same time as my friends so we can chat about it.

PS. I also find it to be crap because xbox users will know the outcome of new quests aka spoilers 20 days before anyone else.

I only feel sorry for the PS3ers, they really get the [censored] end of most stuff.

Because we're just that awesome!

Nah, I'm only kidding, both consoles (and PCs) have their ups and downs.

No it's actualy all about the money, knowing Bethesda they're going to make us pay an insane amount of MSP (like 1200-2000) and knowing people will rush to buy it they will end up buying double MSP since there's only a few set limits of how much you can purchase.

PC user here, I don't feel bad...

Xbox users having DLC first means:

1) If the DLC turns out to have poor value for money, I don't have to discover it by myself.
2) Xbox userbase will be the first to experience bugs. By the time the DLC will come to the PC hopefully they will be fixed.
3) I have MODs to keep me busy in the meantime.

Microsoft threw money at Beth.

But think of the fun the xbox users will have with the bugs first for the rest of it.

Yeah, it's called a legitimate business contract, why do people treat this like it's underhanded?
I'm a pc gamer btw, I've no problem with Xbox getting the DLC early.

I am reserving judgement until I know more about the DLC.. Once more is known, I may have more to say..

There is a difference between "legitimate" in a legal context, that what the law says is ok, and legitimacy in a social context, that what society considers legitimate behavior. Just like "justice" in a legal context isn't always "just".

Because nobody, in the long run, survives when going up against Microsoft. Not even with free online service.

It's legitimate in any context... dlc exclusivity and first access has been commen practice for one console or another for quite awhile.

It's not a dirty underhanded tactic invented and soley used by Microsoft

A lot of gamers still don't see gaming as purely a business.

They probally paid beth for the first rights to it hoping to sell more xbox's by people who obviously will say to themselves "hmmm imma buy this xbox instead of ps3 because they get the dlc first". id never buy a system for that though, but maybe ms has done research and some people will.

Which is kind of silly. Companies do this sort of thing all the time, companies that you love and are loyal to. Car makers have exclusivity deals, your favorite brand of toaster does it. Even your favorite cereal company has exclusivity contracts.

Why is it only a big deal with game companies do it?

It is what it is.

PS3 owners have been playing the Strike At Karkland map pack for Battlefield3 for almost 2 weeks now... yet to be released on xbl.

A lot of gamers make mountains out of molehills.

Xbox is the better console.

PS3 is rubbish with a blue ray duck taped to it.

PC just mod until the game is fun, which is saying that the game is lacking without mods

Yep. Too bad BF3 svcks on consoles and is clearly meant for PC. PS3 = an overpriced Blu-ray player.
