Dodging the boomers artillery

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:10 am

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Im trying to get to Nellis Air Force Base (to see the boomers).
My problem is I step into the ruins they are shelling and within about 10seconds im toast.
Ive spoken to George?, the guy that tells you how to pass the field and ive tried doing what he says but it hasn't helped.
Ive tried everthing I can think of but before I can even reach the second ruined house the artillery is landing right ontop of me.

Can anyone impart some words of wisdom or am I doomed to watch my limbs scatter far and wide time after time ? :)

Thanks

Sounds like you are getting ahead of yourself. You need to hide in the first house and wait for the shelling to stop, then bolt for the second, wait for the shelling to stop again, and then bolt to the base.

This is what i did, once entering the area where they start shelling your turn left and just follow that rock wall to the fence. then follow the fence to the gate.

try geting the best armor, a couple of simpacks, and tons of turpo. The turpo slows down things around you but you go about the same.

Thanks, yeah i've just done it :)
Tried this the first time and whilst the shelling did stop for a second or two it started again really quickly. Ive just tried again and it worked fine. Cheers!

Light Armor, Turbo, Hydra, Med-X active and few Super-Stimpacks. Have followers wait somewhere safe. It's pretty easy then.

stick to the left, and run. Don't stop. Run as fast as you can. Use Turbo. Don't wear power-armour. Put your gun away. Oh, did I say run as fast as you can?

Or you meet the gambler and he tells you how to do it for a bet. :)

meh, he just says "stick to the northeast and hide". Tried that 20+ times, didn't work. Running very fast to the northwest (left) did though.

Unequip any weapons and armour, stick to left wall, and run like a kenyan, a kenyan with stimpacks hotkeyed

The gamblers tips do work, but you have to be agile, for the first house I headed up the ramp and waited, when the shelling stopped I did not bother with the second house, just bolted to the gate as fast as possible, lost half my health on the way.

I killed that gambler and got my caps and 600 extra.
I ran to where a train station entrance area will be. (Kinda like the metros in Fo3)
I waited for the shelling to stop, and once it did, I ran underneath this type of canyon sort of thing, it protected me from the shells
and I was able to make it to their base safely.

You can bypass the bombs by finding the tunnel at the end of the train tracks, it's back on the right side before you get to the gambler

Just run and stay to the left or wait for the artillery to start, then run back towards george, wait for 10 seconds, then run for it

the south east walls of the two ruined houses protect you, run to the first, wait, run to the second, wait, then straight to the gate. Don't need any stimpaks or chems

Yeah Stay on the left side and move fast don't stop running until you reach the fence and use stimpacks if you need to. I did it that way and I lost about 33% to 50% of my health.

Easy as pie, you go up the road and talk to the guy who gives you advice and will double your money if you make it back, as soon as you go up that road go left as soon as possible and hug the rocks while running full pelt you should eventually reach the fence and they wont fire on you anymore.

As soon as you get past the rocks on either side of you, run directly to the left (behind houses, but sticking near them) and as you are running, jump. If you jump the shells don't knock you around and don't hurt you unless they actually hit you.

This is what I did just park your followers, and run. Only once did a bomb land anywhere near me, and a stempack took care of that. Once you hit the fence they stop shelling.

I stuck to the right side, past the tracks. Went around the long way. Only had to do it once, then you got the fast travel location. I didn't change my gear, use any stimpaks or any chems. Simple.

I didn't ever wait for the shelling to stop!
I ran along the train tracks round the back and ran to a house there...then kept moving through the houses until I got to the fence!

lol, I ran naked along the western edge jumping up and down. Only got hit once and had to use a doctors bag for the crippled leg, but I made it to the fence.

And if you read the note that the gambler gives you its hilarious, I love how it's like " yah, and there is a train station to the south" as a foot note. I first tried this train station, but it was a lvl 100 lock and a deathclaw was there waiting for me. Suffice to say if tore my head off.
