Does an aging mod exist?

Is there a way to get my character to age in-game?

I wonder if running the showracemenu command from in game console would hurt the game too much? Corrupt save data and what not...
I seem to remember there was debate about this long ago. Some of the more veteran forum members could help clear this up. But showracemenu would effectively let you manually age your character... I'd think every ten years would be a good round number to work off of.

EDIT: There is a good topic for these sort of questions too. Mod Detectives is the name of the topic.

As far as I know, no aging mod exists. I've never seen one before and I looked around a bit and couldn't find one.

You can change your character appearing using showracemenu without any problems provided you keep the console open, and, instead of clicking "Done" when you're done, save your game, then load your game. The visual changes will be changed without any resetting of your stats or anything like that. I've done it several times and have never had any save game issues. The only problem I've run into is that if you use a modded race or hair and you edit your character, your Bruma statue will cause a problem that will make it so you cannot enter Bruma with a CTD. There are mods that remove the statue though that can fix it.

However, I'd like to point out that most players finish the game without making it one entire in-game year. You'd have to use a lot of imagination to justify your character aging at all. Like saying one day is a month or something.

Yeah, generally speaking, I wouldn't expect much visual change in a character over the amount of time a character is played for (in game). I mean, OK, maybe stress makes them age faster (look at how much the average US president ages in four years!), but I dunno - probably not that much.

I DID make one once, but without the ability to actually force update the character's appearance, it was only background stuff, unfortunatly :( I doubt it's ever likely to happen properly until then-- but who knows, maybe Skyrim will let you :)

Even though the passage of time is insufficient for ageing, I can see a use for quest mods if it was possible. The player is cursed, ages many years overnight and loses Strength, Agility, Willpower or whatever until he/she can lift the curse. Kind of like Vampirism, but different, and could presumably use the same mechanism if it's not hard-coded into the engine.

Hi, i've tried this and it works fine. don't understand what you mean about finishing the game though, my save is currently over hundred hours of gameply and slightly less than a year has passed (about 200 days?) also i'm playing the same breton-mage i was and mages should age slightly quicker than other characters in my opinion. Though perhaps there should be a way of making time pass quicker in-game to give more realism; the main quest is unlikely to be sorted out in a week...

sorry for resurrecting an old thread, just wanted to acknowledge the poster for his help
