My lap top doesn't have internet (i am using some one else's computer) and it has java already. the problem is that the version is 21 and I need update 24. I have been trying forever to get it to my laptop but I have had no luck. I have tried the following.

>copying the whole jave file from (this computer, which has java6u24) program files to a flash drive and then to my laptop and reinstall, but it reinstalled vu21 instead for some reason.

>went to java site and clicked the java6 update 24 download link and redirected the install destination to my flash drive and tried to manually replace the java files on my laptop. no change.

I have tried a few variations of the two above but none has worked. the best way I can see to get the 24 update would be if there was a site that offered the download without it automaticly installing to the computer that is downloading it. that has been my biggest obstical, it keeps installing it self and I want it to install to my laptop, I have the right files on my laptop (from attempt #2) but I just don't know the proper place for them to be.

Did you try uninstalling 6 update 21 completely, then installing the new version. I just did it, (was experiencing problems with PS3 Media Server which annoyingly uses java) and it worked fine. (Also when installing the new version, I would recommend deleting the C:\Users\(Your Username)\AppData\LocalLow\Sun folder, after uninstalling 6.21, it was caching the fonts wrong for me and it looked terrible)
