Does any other game franchise have a fandom that are so part

Go take a field trip to the Star Wars The Old Republic official forums. They put this place to shame in terms of nitpicking.

Agreed,

The halo community is splitted in two, the [censored] and the guys that know everything about the story and doesn't stop complainning about the lack of consistency in the story in the games, where the [censored] shows up and tell them : If you don't like it don't play it, which is basicly the my most hated sentence after "We'll make taxes cuts"

It seems to me that all the Elder Scrolls games subsume hordes of forestalling people
who have nothing better to do than refute about the game like it's their job.

Minecraft, apparently. I've seen so many threads on other forums complaining that Notch is ruining the game with the stuff he is adding

compass markers that tell you where undiscovered locations are (which is my personal favorite.. also not known if it's toggleable or not).
Confirmed toggle.

That's exactly the thing. If they screw Skyrim up completely, it takes another 5 years before we get the next game. :D
Exactly why Oblivion was such a big kick in the nuts.

Because Kojima TOTALLY made that story up as he went on. There is no way he had that all planned out lol.

Most likely, the plot had more holes than my socks.

The Battlefield community on the official UK Battlefield 3 forums certainly break every element of the game down into tiny shards, and then rip those shards apart.

The more devoted fans probably know more about the lore than a lot of the developers.

This.

There were some budget cuts after they hired Patrick Steward and Sean Bean to do voice acting in Oblivion.

The Guild Wars community is pretty hardcoe about their series. The upcoming Guild Wars 2 looks to be impressive also and already has a devoted following.

The Elder Scrolls community was the first one to hook me this badly, starting in 2004, when I started to realize just how much lore there was. When I joined the forums, Loranna's Lore RP had already been running for something like 12-18 months, unheard of for an RP. I'm not as pumped up for "Skyrim", though I'm getting it.

You've got to be kidding with this topic.

If you've ever been on any of the historical game forums, like HoI3 or the Total War series, people get bent out of shape if the buttons on the uniforms are the wrong size or those collar and cuff colors weren't used in that campaign (they're known as "stitch nazis"). Game mechanics go through a wringer, and everything is over-anolyzed, second-guessed, and converted into mathematical equations to support the most ridiculous theories and bizarre "conclusive facts" that can't be proven. That doesn't even include the various political and ethnic fanatics who insist that "tiny nation x" should start with 3X the army that the "superpowers" get, and point out some obscure reference or "propaganda" article as proof. This is tame.

Halo community...they raged for the whole year over Halo reach, over books and such
if a game, changes onething that interferes with the books they rage even if its a date off by an hour
