Yes, we know you Morrowind elitists don't like the game. But I've noticed so many negative threads on Skyrim that I wondered if there's anyone out there who actually enjoys the game?

I love Morrowind, I don't like the GUI they put on Skyrim, other than that I'm satisfied with the game.

I like it a lot, even though it sounds like i'm always negative about it. :P

Disappointing as an Elder Scrolls game, but still amazing compared to most other games.

Pretty much this.

bethesda is by far my favourite game developer but i have to say skyrim is a massive let down in my opinion. it seems totally void of anything to aspire to. i remember going into weapons shops (apparently a thing of the past) in oblivion and looking forward to purchasing those really expensive items, finding all the guilds and wanting to don them all. it seemed like every step you made progressed your skills and stats in some way. i feel lost in skyrim, im jumping everywhere i go hoping that one day a message will pop up and tell me i have progressed a certain skill, everywhere i go the landscape is white wash. i have no problem with the glitches and the little rocks and ditches that you can get stuck in. they remind you that its a big bad world and if your not careful the scenery can end your exploration as easy as the enemies. the whole dragon shout thing just takes you further away from the feeling that every fight you make is controlled by you. those kind of repetitive bosses in other games are what drove me to elder scrolls in the first place. all i have to look forward to is yet another dragon diving down, shout, potion, shout and repeat. id rather a world filled with nothing but rats than one of those dragons. i looked forward to this game for months and pre ordered well in advanced, im sorry but its going straight back where i got it from!

I started off with Morrowind and thought Oblivion was a big let down in comparison but Skyrim? I love it! of course there's a few tidbits that could've used improving but what game doesn't have that? I love Skyrim, the world feels interesting the quests are fun and there's so many other great aspects that I can't list them all.

I think there's a very vocal minority that don't like the game, they'll soon get bored of moaning on the forums. I love the game!

I guess I first have to say that I LOVE Skyrim, the game svcks me in (like a triple [censored]ed hoker), but I'm fully aware that it has flaws, and that the gaming industry has changed since Morrowind.

I'd really like to see the complaints that the Morrowind "oldschoolers" have with Skyrim, and if they are unique to Skyrim, or with recent games in general.....

The most obvious changes since Morrowind, as far as I can tell are these:

-Essential NPCs
-Inventory/Interface
-Quest markers/Journal system

Essential NPCs and Quest markers are as far as I can think of implemented to help the players experience the content. When I played Morrowind I spent a LOT of time on UESP to help me remember previous clues and quests in a chain, to get an overview on what the hell I was actually supposed to do. I'll admit that quests seemed a lot "deeper" when you HAD to pay attention to dialogue and your journal to get to where you wanted to go. It also required you to get to know the game-world. I remember spending a lot of time walking around the wrong lake looking for locations in Morrownd, since I was a bit confused on the names of certain locations. All in all, I can't really decide if the change is a positive or negative one, since I still pay attention to the quest, and read the journal entries to figure out where I'm going. Personally, I'd like to have both the quest marker, and the detailed journal entries, but perhaps not have the quest marker not appear unless you were in the same region as the locations (or a proximity trigger).
Essential NPCs are in my opinion a no-brainer. Atleast in regards to the main quests in the game. I've had one issue with them in Skyrim, ***SPOILER*** in regards to the quest where you're asked to disable a lighthouse to crash and loot a ship. I figured the quest was a bit too evil for my character, and never followed up on the Argonian's suggestion. However, at another time in the game, I found the hideout of some bandits that were in league with said Argonian, and found a journal that explained what they really wanted me to do, and that they were going to murder me after I fixed the lighthouse. I then murdered the bandits, and went to Solitude to confront the Argonian. Unfortunatly the Argonian had no new dialogue, so I figured I'd kill him and dump him in the Ocean (so much for being good, eh?). Turns out the scaly bastard is essential....

The interface is a price we have to pay for pirating games, and that game development for consoles is easier and safer for a developer....

Even the whiners love the game to bits, otherwise they wouldn't bother posting their rants here.

Every game has its problems and complaining about them doesn't mean its a bad game. I'm enjoying this game right now more than any other game in years.

Skyrim has a ton of major problems and I rate it a 9/10, one of the best games I ever played.

Bethesda is amazing at creating worlds and telling stories. They are terrible at creating game mechanics and user interfaces. The story and the world are so good it makes up for all the terrible game mechanics and the terrible interface. But it's still something I'd love to see them fix. Changing the leveling system was a huge step in the right direction but there are so many other major flaws.

Imagine a game where bethesda created the world and the lore and blizzard made the game mechanics and the UI? That would be amazing.

Exactly what he said

It's a great, great game but it certainly is no Oblivion. That game is far superior in every way!

Kinda but not really.

No one cares about Morrowind anymore and Skyrim isn't giving us much to care about either.

Just check metacritic if you're interested in consensus opinions of any game. This game is pretty much universally beloved, but the forums are THE place where anyone who has a complaint is going to complain. This is where all the negativity accumulates, and no matter how good a game is there will be negative elements to discuss.
