Does anyone actually like Skyrim?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 9:04 pm

Too much exaggeration going on here. People aren't posting threads with extravagant names like "Skyrim is the worst game ever."

I see more detailed threads expressing a disappointment and provide their reasoning. This then is interpreted into hating, naysaying, complaining and you proceed to flame accordingly.

Nice open forum.

It's all good that people can come and 'acknowledge flaws', but it's sickening seeing a topic like "Why is this game so bad?" or "Wow this svcks!". It seems like a lot of people are spoiled with previous games and fail to see that Skyrim is actually a nice leap forward. It might not be advanced in every aspect of the game, and may be degraded in some.. but the overall game is a complete success.

And I love it.

Non-constructive criticism just happens, why you would use the word "sickening" is beyond me. It's only a game. Ignore it and move on.

I really enjoy skyrim.

Sure there are some things I would have done differently I suppose, but I can't really complain. Skyrim is the best elder scrolls to date. I don't care what anyone says. Morrowind was great, Oblivion was great, but those games are done for me unless I'm feeling really nostalgic one day. Skyrim delivers in so many more ways than those games could.

I get so tired of reading the petty gripes people have about "Oh noez I level too fast." Or "Alchemy and enchanting is over-powered."

My personal GOTY and best RPG this generation. A bit flawed but still a wonderful experience,

Not everyone speaks their mind on these forums y'know. Those with complaints wants to makes their voices heard while those without complains should be playing the damn game!

SR is fun. But there is so much potential that is marred with shoddy design (UI, magic, character development...to be specific) it is crazy.

This game could be awesome. Maybe with some help from mods it will be...

My only complaint to date was when the Main Quest on my Main Character bugged out, meaning I'm stuck not being able to start A Cornered Rat. Which makes me sad, as I really don't want to have to re-make my favourite character =[
That said? I LOVE Skyrim!

Why do people like yourself seem utterly alien to the concept that you can enjoy a game but have complaints about it? I am not trying to trash your thread here, I am actually addressing your point directly because you have missed a major part of the equation here.

After reading the OP, this is pretty much what i wanted to say.

There's no need to ignore it, and 'moving on' is simple. I use the word sickening because it svcks to see how little some people appreciate such a great game. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, of course, but some complain about it as if it's some crap game that's unplayable. :glare:

I still can’t fathom how people equate 100 negative people constantly posting the same negative stuff over and over equals “Does anyone actually like Skyrim”. Last I saw there were over 400k people playing this game with what? .01% here on the forum?

Same thing pretty much on any gaming forum in existence today, it’s called “The vocal Minority”. In a month or so they have a squirrel moment , get distracted by shinies the move on to another forum.

Your intentions seem nice, but from my perspective you are the other side of the coin to the exact kind people you are complaining about when you post flamebait. Your account is only 6 days older than mine and something tells me you will probably not be posting here regularly for years to come.

It has it problems, and to be honest i've mostly voiced the problems, but overall it's the best Bethesda game i've played yet. And mods, patches and DLC will only improve it further :)

Chock fulla bugs but stunningly beautiful. It's good. It will be great after a couple of patches.
(Edit: It's buggier at release than Oblivion was.)
I'd say I like it, yes :)

Well.

I have many complaints about the game and how it was done.
BUT
I love the game, the world, the plot.
And I'm beating my head against to wall to go home and play.
(yes, I can access game forums in my work).
Really enjoyed the game and already played many many hours.
Only wanting them to release the CK so people mod and I find the corrections to complaints I have.

+1 Merari

Morrowind is my favourite game.
I was a lot disappointed in Oblivion (at least before the mods and Shivering Isles, but still thinks it inferior by far to its predecessor).
So you could say I'm a "Morrowind Elitist"

but [censored] all of this. I love skyrim. It's the best RPG I played for a loooong time. I can't say if it's since morrowind or KotOR.., I might even prefer skyrim to everything, I don't know, there's not enough hindsight to be sure.
I played 100+ hours from now and I finished one quest series (a daedra quest), one guild (well not entirely, just the main quest) and between one half and 2/3 of the main quest. Despite playing a lot, I certainly didn't explore more than a fraction of its possibilities.
I do regret the lack of a lot immersive possibilities that probably harmed the gameplay in the previous games but added so much to the ambiance and the roleplay. But still, skyrim is amazing.

I am not flaming or complaining about anything, none of this bothers me in the slightest. In fact I find it rather amusing to watch :). All I am saying is I have seen this debate 100 times before on pretty much every gaming forum since Everquest and nothing anyone here will say is going to change it.

I'm 100 hours in and i didn't even visit Morthal yet and only were in Dawnstar today for the first time... i still have many undiscovered parts of the map as well... I still play my first character... I'm still not bored.

Skyrim is the best TES game yet :)
